Summoner of Sounds

author=Cap_H
-Forest Stroll by Dysergy This one is nice. It has a mild Asian vibe at the start and develops itself in something more. This basic melody, which is later overlaid by flutes is really pleasant. However these flutes are too loud, destroying peaceful atmosphere of the track.

Thanks for the comment, I thought that they were a bit loud myself. But no one else I'd asked to listen to the track commented on them so though they were alright. I'll adjust accordingly.

Summoner of Sounds

Made my submission, uploaded both .OGG & .WAV so that you can use my track in your projects if you'd like to.

Thanks Happy for the invite - I'm looking forward to the next round! :)

Hey man! Good to have you here! Have you checked out Summoner of Sounds, our current huge music event series? If you're interested in collaborating and getting in touch with developers and other composers in the community, as well as getting some visibility, I'd really recommend checking it out!

Edit: Your twitter says you're from Finland? Is that right? If so, high five!

Also, do you have a soundcloud account?

I've been studying in Finland for 5 months! I leave on Sunday though. I do have a SoundCloud account, but it's just the same materials that are on my YouTube.

The Unpopular Opinion Thread

author=NeverSilent
I (at least partially) disagree with you both. What a surprise. ^_^

Now, I have one I'm sure I'm going to get flak for from you, Liberty, so here goes:
In most cases, I do not like it when (former) hobbyist (RPG Maker) game creators decide to go commercial. From what I've seen so far, this decision often results in having to compromise one's own work, because suddenly it isn't about expressing and realising your own dreams and ideas any more, but about pleasing a target audience whose money you want/need. It becomes business instead of something you do for fun, and it's not surprising if creators get discouraged and give up, or their audience loses interest. Also, one failed commercial game can have much more grave consequences (like having expended saved money for resources etc.) and might cause a developer to give up game making forever.

I mean, I get the idea behind wanting to make a living by being creative. But one of the reasons why I'm so fond of the free indie game concept is that it's, well, free. These games are surrounded by a discourse that is indeed free, where everyone can participate, where thoughts can be exchanged and concepts can be changed without the constant financial pressure. In my opinion, that is an important aspect of what creativity should be about.

Sure, there definitely are exceptions. But in 80% of the cases, if I were to always blatantly say what I'm thinking (which, of course, I don't actually want to do), I would discourage game makers from going commercial.

Well, if you think about it - it's very similar to your favourite YouTubers earning $1000s per video they release, what once was a hobby a lot of the time naturally evolves into something else.

That being said, there's nothing to say that Developers could operate a "pay as you feel" type business model or accept donations after releasing a free game, but this isn't as reliable as it's incredibly hard to make people part with their money.

Musician & Composer for hire

author=Kitsune Inferno
I really like what I'm hearing here. I've got a project in preproduction/early production that I think your musical style will fit quite well! I can send you the desgin document if you're interested, but it's by and large a traditional RPG.

Shoot me any information to dysergysound@gmail.com, I'm definitely interested.

Musician & Composer for hire

Hey, I'm Drew - recently came back to the RPG Maker community and I'm looking to get some game composition experience. Willing to work entirely for free on the basis that I can "sell" any piece of music I compose for your soundtrack.

Here is a YouTube playlist of my 5 most recent compositions, these weren't done on my proper home set up because I've been studying away from home for the last half year but they are pretty high quality.

I'd love to hear from you.

Either reply here, send me a PM or email me at dysergysound@gmail.com

As a person who makes music I prefer spending most of the time outside composing in silence. And most of the times if I do start to listen to some music, I just start analyzing it. .-.

Composer seeking projects

You really are willing to work for free?
I am planning my next game. I might be interested. We do not really have the budget to hire someone to compose a song just for our games (we usually get by with commercial ones). But if you can help giving our game a little personality, I can high light your work and help you raise your fame in our game and you tubes. I think, for a starter, that is more important than anything else.

But what are your specialties or most interested types of music? In a game, there are emotional moments as well as exciting battles. It's rare to be good at everything.

Hey, first of all, that demo on your soundcloud sounds awesome.
If you're still looking for an unpaid job, I am currently working on a project called Shadows of Tirelon, a fantasy RPG about a kid who loses his memory and tries to regain them throughout the game, and I'm kind of looking for someone who could make music for it.
Sadly, I don't really have a budget for the game, so I can't offer any compensation =/
If you're interested, I'd love to tell you more about it via PM.

If your games do well, as a compensation for not actually paying him you could allow him the ability to sell the pieces he writes as part of the Soundtrack for 100% share - or if he were to say write your entire soundtrack, let him independently sell the Soundtrack! :)

I see a lot of composers working for free on the basis of 100% royalties from soundtrack sales of the final product - and personally it's my preferred manner of working too!

What's up everyone?

Hey everyone, I'm Drew - better known as Dysergy online, but I prefer if folks call me by my name as it's easier!

I'm returning to the RPG Maker Community after not being around for the last 6 years or so. I used to be pretty active in places like Creation Asylum and other RPG Maker sites like this!

Only, I no longer try to actually make my own games. These days, I'm a guitar player and composer. I do covers of video game music on YouTube, and I write my own music.

So I'm here interested in the idea of helping the development of a project or two by composing pieces for them!

All of my media links are in my signature if you wanna check out any of my stuff.

It's nice to meet all of you,
Have a good day,
Drew.
