[RM2K3] "Cannot open Black file"
[RM2K3] "Cannot open Black file"
Hello! Some time ago (in 2017, isn't the passage of time terrifying) I spent the summer making a small game in RPG Maker 2003. While I finished it, I haven't touched it or the program since. I discovered the files while moving over from an old computer, and wanted to see if I could play the game again.
The game was "published" through the provided interface (that is, it has its own folder and .exe file and can run without the rpg maker program). The game opens to its title screen, but attempting to start a new game generates an error message. The error message reads "Cannot open black file", and clicking "okay" causes the entire program to crash.
I do not have RM2K3 installed on my current computer, but I downloaded the RTP. I realize there is probably some other troubleshooting that could be done, however, since it's been about 5 years since I used the program, I've basically forgotten everything about it. I was hoping some more experienced users could let me know if this was a simple fix, or if some more in-depth troubleshooting was required. I'm more than willing to put in the work to re-learn the program and attempt to revive my little project, but I thought I would reach out to see if there was a simpler solution first.
