Also it isn't really that annoying unless one of my family members decided to take a shit.

The bathroom door at my place doesn't quite close all the way, so locking it serves no purpose whatsoever. The general rule is to knock if the door is close-enough closed. Though, if somebody is taking a shower, one generally hears that...
