What's up with all the people suddenly moving their projects to MV? I mean, it's not like VX Ace is going to become a shadow of the past that soon... Right?

I am not only not moving my project over, but my next two games will be VX Ace as well, if all goes to plan.
If MV works for your game, then I say go for it. But otherwise, don't :P

I'm quite sure people will stick with Ace for some things, especially if their games are especially script-heavy, since it's only the base game itself that can be moved over, not anything to do with the scripting.
I was just wondering, because is something that surprised me considering the engine hasn't been released yet... XD
Quite sure the features ( including the multi-platform support and much improved character generator ) got devs mouths watering. So you really can't blame them.
I'm more curious what's up with all these people paying a lot of money for engines that have very arbitrary artificial limits placed on them.

As for me, I doubt I'll move until after I learn javascript. And even after that, I don't think I'll stop using ace. Right now, I'm rather attached to ruby. So ace is where I stay.
MV has the advantage of making your games much more accessible (on mobile devices and playable in browser).
Yeah, a decent part of the cost is the license to use the default resources of said engines inside other engines that you own the right to use (as long as it's made by Enterbrain) in commercial endeavours.
This always happens when there's a new version. The real reason people move from one maker to the next is that they are regular procrastinators who will never get their game done and porting it to a newer engine is just another reason to delay the game indefinitely.

Huh. That also seems odd to me, since I rate custom assets much higher than otherwise. But I suppose not everyone knows what the RTP looks like.
Similar to how that obvious Unity look to a game makes me automatically a little disappointed.

All of those are perfectly valid reasons. :P
If I ever quit procrastinating I might actually finish a game and unleash its horrors upon the world and we can't have that so I'll grab MX and restart with it
