What do y'all think about if we had a sticky thread where people can post that there game was accepted?

CloseIt wouldn't be "advertising" but more a way for people to proclaim their game is accepted, here and ready to go! This way that information is here in the forums as well as the front page and people might see it more easily and if interested can go check it out.
Maybe this is just redundant and I wouldn't want it to be advertising, like they can't talk about their game but just for them to have another venue to say that it's here and new.
I was just thinking of a way more underrated and overlooked games might have a Bette chance at being seen.

I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Only problem would be having those people find their way to it haha.
Tho having one like after the submission for "Is your submission still pending?" and a sticky already sound fun.

Yeah, exactly. The sad truth is not everybody is going to dig or even glance at site rules or submission guidelines. It wouldn't hurt to just have some extra things that might make it easier for a lot of people (Us and mods included)
And if it's a sticky then it will be easier to see when they start exploring the forums. Let the forums work for the game pages and FrontPage material.

Yes, but maybe we should ultilze the forums for a little more and try to integrate the two a little better. There's been numerous times where having the game pages and the forums coexisting is better for everyone and for the community to be more unified. The biggest thing is that the forums self promote people and their games through their interactions on the forums. And that's great.
I'm not saying some kind of overhaul, just baby steps. Promote the idea that if you upload your game here you have a community to support and help you through the process. And the more clear those options are the better.
I mean, I am all for the idea that promotion should not be the goal. No screens no nothing.
But I feel just saying "I made this game and put it on this site. click profile if you want to see new stuff" is OK to do. It would also be the thing to say "it's being discussed, or really close to .." that sometimes comes up when various people post new threads or status stuffs.
There are various threads meant for new devs or existings devs to polish up page stuff already. And those all work without promoting the game in question blatantly.
I think it's worth considering, at least haha.
Tho as I said, having a row of people repeatedly ask or say the same thing would serve more the purpose of calming people and making people realize "that's just how it works". Thus perhaps having no need to make that new thread or post in the first place.

I think this would be a bad idea. Part of any kind of stream of information is the "drinking from the firehose" problem. AKA, there is too much to consume and you get overloaded. And choice paralysis is a real thing.
You don't WANT to leverage the forum more. The forum has inherent firehose problems and creates even more distinction of state between it and the "real" site.
This would also put up more social barriers that would indicate success. AKA, "for a successful game, you have to get it approved and THEN have to post in this topic". That also encourages people not to use the site tools.
Valid fix? Improve the site's discoverability.

My biggest goal with this suggestion is that newcomers can been seen and heard more easily with their uploads than they are now without having to make a name on the forums for anyone to give them the time of day.
We wanna keep people interested and feeling important with their work. Having a vocal community to go to for support is very important.

I still like the idea of a sidebar on the community page that's basically a vertical equivalent of the front page's new games feed. Partly because I just like looking at the pretty titles. :)
