You Can't Do That In Zelda!
author=Link_2112
i can't do that in zelda because i can't get this to work. it loads zelda classic but it doesn't let me load quest files.
I think I know what's up. To play a custom quest you need to create a new save file when it's at the "Register Your Name" screen. If you try to do so in-game it won't let you (greyed out option). When you start the program it should take you to the title screen and the file select screen first. Pressing the Z key while over a newly named file, will let you attach a custom quest to that file. THEN once you select it, it will start the quest you've attached to it.
Which icon in the Zelda Classic folder did you click? I'm new to this program too so I'm trying to figure out all it's foibles myself.
Happy Mother's Day
I didn't celebrate mother's day because I work in a restaurant and worked 2 double-shifts back-to-back to keep a perpetually empty salad bar full of food. On a day when the salad bar is free due to corporate stupidity, whilst also falling on the busiest day of the year.
SO. WHAT DID YOU GET YOUR MOTHER'S(S)???

ALL WIZARDS NEED INFORMATION. ALL WIZARDS NEED ORBS. ALL WIZARDS NEED INFORMATION ABOUT ORBS.
I don't need orbs! They just happen to be very useful. It's either them or crystals, and those are so last century.
So uh...Exactly what kind of orbs are we talkin' about here? You in cahoots with a distributor or something?

I don't know why but I really want to make an SMBX episode consisting of the worst stages imaginable. I'd call it "How to not make a Mario Level"
What are you thinking about right now?
I always wanted to be an archeologist. Like Indiana Jones. Then I discovered what archeology was actually like. Then I really wanted to become one.

I'm kind of against strict themes at this point in development as well. The Art Gallery idea pretty much is the overarching theme of the whole game. And it's perfect since it allows us to have levels not adhere to specific ones while having an in-game "reason" for it. That's why Mario 64 did it! Besides, I don't really know what kind of themes we could group the levels by. Maybe genres of art like nin8halos was doing? I dunno.
I'm with Soli on the no-Eli thing though. Primarily because I agree that we should treat this as a stand-alone game and not drag the previous entries into it. But also because I think it's stupid and only makes you look narcissistic. Imagine if I was the final boss. The very idea makes you grimace doesn't it?
Don't worry about the level list if you don't want to deal with it right now. But I'd still like for the rest of us to talk about it. If the other judges have opinions, they should weigh in. Now is the time to get a first draft ironed out.
I'm a bit busy myself at the moment so it'll be a while since I can review our own levels and any others that need them. But I can always gab my jaw off!

Who would like to hear/watch dramatic readings(by me) of some of this community's crazier threads?
I'd rather hear you read the threads as impersonating Christopher Walken. Maybe throw him in a few threads you read for a surprise.

There's one very good reason we shouldn't be making our own levels right now. We don't know what exactly we'll have when I end the voting
It's either going to be anywhere between 30 to 40. Minus our own levels. That's why I want to talk about ordering the ones we already have approved. To save us trouble down the road. So that we can get this done BEFORE June.
We've got the following levels approved so far,
World 1
Green Grass Gallavant
The Hop
The Nightmare Universe
World 2
Mario's Dreamland
Oil Oasis
Shy Guy's Toy Box
Cloudy Climb
World 3
Bridge Over The Horizon
24 Carrot Gold
Mushroom Heights
Opposite Day
Mega Mole Mountain
World 4
Backing Up
Molten Magma
Forest of Cold Silence
Sunny Summertime Swim
Arid Acropolis
World 5
Cursed Funklen
Ghoulish Ghastly Ghosts
Aquatic Ascent
World 6
Jailbreakers
World 7
Fleetfeet Falls
Glass Cannon
Industrial Failure
Chemical Romance
Feel the Heat
World 8
Black Bando's Brigand Bastion
Bullet Factory
Baneful Brimstone
Starlight City
Funky Frantic Fortress
Castle Crushers
And the following are pending approvals that haven't been denied,
Cowabunga!
Chocolate Canyon
Faron Woods
Peril Jungle Ruins
The Port of Adia
Chaos Woods
Cloudsdale Sanctuary
A Cheesy Level
The Sinister Side
=================
+ Ours
=================
Glazed Donut Road
Garden of Delights
Riveting River Rafting
Pipe Platformer
Simplicity
Grave Mistake
Grim Grotto
Mysterious Flying Gentleman Lakitu
Final Destination
Mondrian Grid
The Scream
Mushroom Supernova
Starry Night Over the Rhone
Guardians of the Secret
Forest Temple
Shroom Lake
Fire Temple
Mr. Freeze
Mr. Burns
Koopa Rave
We seem to have a pretty good balance of levels per world so far, except for World 6. And I personally think that The Nightmare Universe and Oil Oasis should be moved up a few worlds. The former for sure, since it really feels out of place for World 1 on account of it's intended atmosphere. Molten Magma would also be better off in World 6 or 7.
Speaking of which I'm not really sure what to do about Davenport. I approved Molten Magma because I know he has a tendency to randomly rehaul his levels without telling anyone. And I thought this draft was pretty good aside from some bad design choices that I figured we could just fix up ourselves. Most of his other levels seem okay but Faron Woods in particular really needs that interior part changed to something else.

The only jarring thing is the ending. Did you actually run out of level memory or did you put the sign there to be funny?
I couldn't think of anything. Bosses aren't my strong point.
