I've heard it said that men who use emoticons in their texts and IMs are far less likely to be looked upon by ladies as potential dates.

no emoticons: apathetic, too ruff 'n tuff for emotions, dead inside
emoticons: ulterior motives, probably a wuss, prideless and desperate for emotional connection
I've heard people say stuff like this before, but really - this is loaded as hell, you gotta have context. Emoticons are just one emerging piece of the puzzle that is human conversation.
:D :D :D
;)
EDIT: The ones I see used badly most often are kaomoji - you'll see some really aggressive or insulting post somewhere and the whole thing is surrounded by

I've heard it said that androids who don't use all caps and end sentences with "beep boop" in their texts and IMs are far less likely to be looked upon by the robot ladies as potential dates.
Huh? I only thought that it was more professional to omit smileys (in business situations). Not using smileys IRL though is kind of the equivalent of not having a soul.

Realtalk tho the OP statement commits the basic error of assuming that ladytypes are a hivemind with little variation in tastes and opinions.
Tho I will admit that past a certain threshold I start feeling kind of leery of emoticon use, just because it gets into "possibly unhinged" territory. Though that's usually the kind of person who posts a jillion emotes after like every sentence. And uses a lot of exclamation points.
Or the people who use passive-aggressive smileys. Those people go straight to the "never voluntarily talk to" rubbish bin.
I would date this emoticon. It looks cute. :3

Pfft, if I had to guess, I'd say there's way more to it than that. :P
