'twas a simpler time, back then. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. During the turmoil of the VXP Revolution, for the script-kiddies of new RM scene, the revolution's proclamation of the scripts of Ruby was indeed a "spring of hope." But for those of the ancient regime, the outgoing eventing system, it was a "winter of despair," leading to destruction and death of creativity.

Kenton Anderson, you're my hero
(man I thought it was the coolest thing that ~RaZoR~ had a midi version of Gorillaz' Feel Good Inc.)

Yeah, I miss those times too…when things used to be a lot more simpler back then… I mean, I remember coming home from school, firing up the ol’ RPG Makerz 2003, when it used to be cutting edge back then, and spend three whole hours actually accomplishing something for once without having to plan all this stuff out all the way through now like today, no custom menus, just using the ol’ default settings. Now, I got to plan this in advance, do this thing first that will take me two months to actually do, and really – and I mean, really have to go completely out of the box now if anybody wants to take a 2k3 game seriously anymore these days. My god…
And the last time I used a MIDI in something was probably back in 2006, before I discovered the awesomeness that was MP3’s and where to acquire theseillegal MP3’s. I haven’t looked back ever since.
(Although, I have to admit, those Enya MIDI’s back then were pretty awesome.)

As someone who started with '95 (though quickly moved to 2000 when it was available), I still find the process of game-making to be magical in its own way, even when I jumped to XP and recently to VX Ace. But yeah, I do sometimes get nostalgic for those old days and my uncompleted RPG Maker 2000 projects.
