Really goes to show how shitty RM's reputation is in the larger gaming world. Maybe if some non-RTP shovelware people put their games into more public spaces, it would help a bit. Never understood why people don't.
Fuck the outside community.

Afraid of that stigma against RPG Maker, most likely.
Yeah, I think it could be a bit of a vicious circle in that vein. I know I've personally always felt reluctant to tag anything I post on social media as rpgmaker content, so there's definitely a bad air surrounding it.
I get reluctant to do it, too. Although it never ends up being a big deal in the end. My stuff isn't terribly popular outside of RMN and nobody's really ever sent me "lel rpg maker lmao" or anything of the sort.
... To be fair, it's not like any other group of developers tout the engine they use when they advertise their games, only when asked maybe once they're released.
In that regard, there is no reason to state what engine you used in general, because what will always truly matter is the game itself.

nah i'm always proud to say I'M AN RPG MAKER USER

anyway, i've spread both Visions & Voices and Wine & Roses around the web, which is part of why they have over 10k downloads each. some people are like "what rpgmaker what" but most people just enjoy free, interesting games? having friends in various large communities helps.
i'll admit that aldorlea and aveyond are complete and utter shit and do nothing to help us, but by simply putting in the polish to make our projects better, we can overcome. but we need to put the polish in. i know i'm bad at that.

Never understood why people don't.
i've had offers to include my games in packages and bundles and stuff a few times, but i refuse despite wanting to share because a lot of my materials have vague or unwritten terms of use, or my content is too risque for the audience. OR, I just don't like the product enough because it was a rushed contest game. i think that any of these reasons apply to a lot of users.
My experience is that 99% of people have no idea what an "RPG Maker game" looks like. It's really funny how many of us sigh at the RTP, when so many people don't recognize it at all.
Maybe it's a slightly bigger thing with all the rushed RPG Maker games on Steam now, but eh. The outside community is fine! I'm not making games just for you guys :P
