It would be fun if we had an event where people edited eachother's old games into whatever they liked. :V

i'd try revamping The Longing Ribbon's battle system stuff lol we'd need to ask permission adn possibly the pool of edittable games would come from only the participants

I'd be down for this.

I'd be up for this, but I think a lot of people probably wouldn't be, lol.

I'd like to submit Minutes to Midnight, Dule or Peeking at Stars and see what happens. Could be wild.

Well, maybe not now. At least wait until the end of McBacon Jam.
While it does sound fun, imagine the amount of butthurt that might occur if someone's game was edited in a way they didn't like. I mean, even if they put their game up for it, if someone did something they didn't like to the game it could cause a lot of ill-feeling.
we'll have to rely on the maturity of the participants, while making sure they're aware people might edit things in ways they didn't like and making nice clear rules to prevent things such as idk making fun of one another or whatever
but i'm glad some people like the idea! XD

edit: Resonate would be an absolute mess to edit, so I'd wnder what people'd do with it (besides making it crash)

and Provolone.. Well, Provolone's just... A weird game. lol

Yeah, I was gonna say, I can see trouble from both ends- if not people being a little too attached to their work, then people out to tweak some nipples. We got plenty of both types here!
Some of us intentionally open source our games. If this happened to any of my old games, even if I didn't like what they turned into, I would still feel really good about it.
yeah me too! but i'm aware some other people wouldn't feel good about this. maybe make a "you're allowed to edit my old games" topic, but an event seems like a really really fun thing to do xD
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

The whole point of this event would be to ruin other people's projects and see how they can ruin your project. If people would be butthurt they can just not sign up! Easy!

It would be extremely fun for the people who have a sense of humor. I'm totally down for it.

I still have fond memories of Ocean threatening to turn my shark-punching RPG into a Sonic fangame in the human instrumentality project thread:

LEL i'd pay to see that.
Exacs! If someone doesn't know how to haffun they can just leave, crawling

I would do this!
I dunno, sounds like fun to me!
i'll turn account mu into a perfume rhythm game
edit: lel commented the same time as gourdy. yeah FUN ISN'T IT since we're on sonic let's turn PARADISE BLUE into a sonic fangame (nah that's too big) (but I bet rubi or mystic sunrise would be 2 oretty fun to edit oshungames xD

I dunno if I could just pick one. I think I'd try mashing all your games together, Jo.
technically you could, y'know, work on our desolate planet.
AHAHAHA SORRY. i'll maybe look at it again one day.
also i still gotta play your Project1... Too bad it's 8am now lel (but i'll keep painting / working since i still want to produce more before i work; i've been on a productivity binge >_>;)

I wonder if signing up to have your game ruined and signing up to ruin someone else's game should be two different signup lists. It would mean that there'd be an uneven number of people, so some people might not get to participate, but it does seem like those two things might be attractive to different types of people.

Some people might like the idea of the event, but be too protective of their own work; they could sign up only as editors. Some people might like the idea of the event, but be too lazy to participate; they could sign up only as source creators. And if the editors outnumber the source creators, it's not really a problem since many people have made more than one game in the past.

If this were a thing, I would be tempted to throw down stuff like Weird Dreams, or Veil of Darkness. Games that I think suck, or have little attachment value to.

Not sure about editing another person's work, though.

Why would we assume that this kind of event necessarily has to be about ruining someone else's game, though? Isn't it just as possible that one person submits an unfinished project they don't know what to do with any more, and another person picks it up, gives it their own spin and turns it into something playable? It doesn't always have to be about messing around randomly, does it?

If you submit your old game to this event, the probability of the event resulting in a legitimate improvement on your game is roughly equivalent to that of John Candy rising from the dead, walking down to K-Mart, buying a demilitarized M1 Abrams tank, entering it in the Kentucky Derby, winning it, using the winnings to stage a successful campaign for the presidency, declaring war on China, cluster bombing all of the rice fields, marketing Toasted Rice Krispies, making millions, and retiring to an elephant ranch in northern Alaska.
