KIRA_NOIR'S PROFILE
Hiya!
I'm Kira and I'm starting college this summer for game design in 2018. Until then, I've almost finished my high school classes, so I'm getting a head start from our enrichment courses and get to go to college during the afternoon this Spring; Um... Computer Modeling {Fusion} and some programs like Clickteam and Unity to get me started. I even get one afternoon each week to work on RPG Maker Ace and actually get credit for it! Yea!! ^_^
So I'm just getting started but I have a little experience with RPG Maker and love RPG games so I'll probably work on a project in-between everything. I'm pretty sure Scott Cawthon uses Fusion and Clickteam for his series of Five Nights at Freddy's games so I'd like to try making a fan-game like that too! Anyhoo, that's about it. I'll probably ask plenty of questions for advice and help so I hope that doesn't bother anyone. I'm just trying to learn and get my feet wet like any game dev has done in the past. Gotta start somewhere!
Other than that: I like Anime, Cats, Coffee, Energy Drinks, Light Novels/Manga, Tae Kwon Do, and Writing. That's about it! You can figure out the rest or just ask! :)

Ruby Script? Notice me Senpai! HELP!!
Ruby Script? Notice me Senpai! HELP!!
@Dyluck
Thank you for your input! ^_^
The script instructions actually helps a lot as I have a couple scripts to try out but didn't know how or where to place them. That - it itself - is a major issue and the 'getting started' link helps too so thank for your time explaining that to me.
Do you - or anyone else - know of a good place for other scripts or other personlized things? They can be for anything; sprites, music, weather and lighting effects, backgrounds, pictures for cut-scenes, etc.
I'd prefer freeware only because maybe there are some people who want to get their work out there and I want to get my game out there. It can be a win/win for both of us.
But I also know that people should be compensated for their work if they do something for your game. So I'm willing to work with a commission if needed.
I'm just getting started working on my first game. I know it will take quite some time but I'm not trying to make a grand idea. Something smaller with a story-driven style and touching music, art, etc.
So any other suggestions are welcome! Thank you! ^_^

Ruby Script? Notice me Senpai! HELP!!
Hello Everyone
Its only been a few weeks since I got RPG Maker VX Ace and joined this site. Its so nice to feel comfortable and welcome. ^_^
I just want to say the things I see here are truly amazing! I look at the standard game engine and its options and its pretty incredible on its own.
Then I see some of the other games created here; personalized artwork, emotional music, even actual action/platform-like adventures that are incredible! I don't even see how they can be RPG-maker games at this point but I guess once you know the engine and script, you can do almost anything.
I've been talking with some friends IRL that have told me about the Ruby Script? But they haven't really done much with it let alone how to access it. I've found some places where you can download certain scripts that can change things like a side facing battle instead of the normal facing one to the front, or adding character faces next to their stats and having something similar to a active time battle system?
So here I am... asking for help on where to start? I know I need to start small and go from there. But I'd still like to try some things. What were some things you did to help motivate you or put a certain effect in your game?
I've purchased several add-on packs to help increase my choices and there are some free sprites and other things that I found. That's what I need to start, options and alterations, or it will just look like the standard model. I also want to know if there are places I should avoid.
But I really don't know where else to look. I mean, I saw a side scrolling action game with magical girls but this was an actual action game. It almost looked like the PS3 game Odin Sphere for those who know that little gem. So I was playing along a demo and then was amazed to see if was made from RPG maker and I couldn't understand how that was possible.
I've also noticed that a lot of people on places like Steam tend to be pretty negative if a game is developed using RPG maker. I don't understand why, if the game is good especially, why should it matter right? Does anyone have experience with this and maybe can give their opinion as to why?
For that matter, this is probably a stupid question. But if I complete a game and want to put it out for others to play then how would I do that? Is there a menu option to condense your game and let you send it to others?
So okay... I've rambled on and asked lots of questions. I'm sorry for that. I'm just overwhelmed by what I see and have no idea where I would even start. I don't even know how to access this Ruby script I heard about. I don't want to alter something and then have it ruin another part of my game, or worse, affect the actual RPG maker engine.
I literally need this explained to me like I'm a 5th grader or something. One step at a time.
So I'm asking - where should I start? Can anyone personally help me? Or point me in the right direction?
Should I just make a 'standard' RPG to get the hang of things? And then start to experiment here and there with the more advanced methods?
Please help and thank all in advance for any and all help! ^_^
