J-man's stream:

...I don't normally post stuff like this. But the cutscenes in this game are so engrossing to watch I thought I'd share it.
Dragon Quest is like the Broadway Theatre of jrpgs, you're always guaranteed a good show.

J-man's already turned into a fish, met an underwater Queen who raps in sick rhymes and a dude who totally sounds like SKELETOR that has a shadow doppelganger . Seriously though, check this game out!

They also use Yes/No choices to act as turning points in the script. It's a really cool, but really subtle game design choice.

I had a grand time watching this today. Thank you for linking me to it, LordBlueRouge.
Is modern Dragon Quest still grind'y as fuck like the golden oldies?

Honestly, it's hard to say. I remember Dragon Quest 8 on PS2, had a few moments where you were farming for gold and more items. But from what I've seen so far, J-Man's blowing through this one pretty quickly!!

He's been streaming here and there throughout the week (I'll probably update the post with a more recent link) you'll have to ask him when you get the chance. But yeah, I'm pretty sure the game may have a difficulty setting, you can choose from, at the start of the game.

…I can't get over how great looking this game is though, guys. Like, little touches like how the fire flickers, the lighting and the way moonlight shimmers in a puddle of water at night - little touches like that make this game really cool to watch!

It's a bummer the 3DS version isn't coming over. I wish I had a PS4 or a really good PC to run this. I haven't been this excited for a Dragon Quest game since 8. This one, like 8, seems to be a bit more approachable than previous entries in the series.
