I can’t believe that they played video game music at the Olympics Games out of all things (even though it’s in Japan and makes a bit of sense)! I know that I’ve heard video game music before, like Gerudo Valley or Dr. Wily Stage 1, playing during some hockey games in the past, but this is so surreal! They even had Kingdom Hearts and Tales Of music playing in there as well! And Chrono Trigger too, Final Fantasy even!
Man, if I went back in time to tell my younger self, while playing Chrono Trigger, that they would play some of its music at the Olympics Games in the future, he’d tell me that I'm crazy. But here it is!
Kinda sucks that they didn’t play any Mario, Legend Of Zelda, Donkey Kong or Mega Man music (that I know of), as that would have been pretty sweet. Or even have someone like Shigeru Miyamoto or Hironobu Sakaguchi come in to hold the torch for a little bit. But, still, this was a neat surprise that I didn’t expect!
