Zelda: game maker suggestions?

author=WIP link=topic=1608.msg25430#msg25430 date=1217137169
Don't use RM2k/3. Use either RMXP or RMVX. Ruby is a far more powerful and standardized language than Gamemaker's piece of hud.
Yeah, this is exactly what I was thinking. I've fooled around with Game Maker enough just enough to be annoyed with GML, so I'd gladly take Ruby even if it means extra coding to do.

Zelda: game maker suggestions?

I have looked at Zelda Classic, but from what I've seen it's way too limited for what I need. Thanks though.

Zelda: game maker suggestions?

I've been working on a Zelda game for a while. I have the bible, and a little pixelwork, but I've been having trouble deciding which maker I should go with. I've been considering RMXP/2K3 and also Game Maker, but I'm really open to anything and would just like to hear some other opinions.

It'll include the usual Zelda fare: items, minimaps, an HUD, and an ABS, as well as an instrument prompt for music-playing (à la Ocarina of Time); so if a certain program would favour implementation of any of those, I'd appreciate the input.

Oh, hey there.

Haha, thanks all.

Oh, hey there.

Hey all. I'm Nabeshin.

Uhm, this isn't my usual corner of the net. I'm usually around hyrule.net and the Chrono Crisis forums, so if any of you are from my neck of the tubes, give me a shout.

I enjoy long walks on the beach, long RPGs, and long waits between Zelda games.

I've used RM2K3 and XP in the past, not to a lot of effect. My only code experience lies in Java, so I'm not the man for coding help, although I would like to get some grasp of Ruby and C. I'm better with graphics and music.

I'm currently working on a traditional Zelda project, so not the usual RPG fare you're used to. Still hoping to get some feedback, though. =D
