Tutorial: Lighting Effects
Well, this is a small tutorial that teachs you how to put lighting effects on your game in a easy way (Photoshop cs4 or Paint.net Required for this)
First, create your map! then, take a screenshot of it (ingame or editor, it doesnt care.) and paste it on Photoshop (be sure it fits. For example, if your map is a 20x15 map you have to create a file of a size of 640x480 (20*32,15*32)
Then, create a new layer and fill it with black with the Bucket Tool (Change the opacity of it, i use 84, you can use another value if you want)
Now, time for the lights ;D Use the Eraser tool and choose the Softier brush and "create" the light (We are creating light from the darkness, ironic xD)
Be sure to only select the areas that can be filled with "light" (For example, you can iluminate the ceiling, or, for example, areas that are in diferent room)
A better example of what you have to do on other kind of maps:
Now, add the light colour ;D use the Degradation tool with the colour of your preference (and remember, only aply the colour to the areas that can be iluminated (PD: I use a 24% of opacity))
Now, delete the Map Layer and save the Picture as a Png on the "Pictures" Folder (Or fogs, if your map is bigger than 20x15)
Now, to use this on your game, make a Process and choose Show Image, and ... TAda!!! Easy Lighting Effect in less than 5 minutes ;D (If your map is bigger than 20x15, load it as a fog, with a magnitud of 100 and no velocity in both axis)
