Which RPG Maker to Choose? Please Help
Hi Everyone!
Please excuse me for jumping right into a generic question right off the bat here, I don't mean to offend anyone by skipping the proper introductions.
The reason I made an account here and created this Topic was because I need some quick help from you guys if it would be possible, I've been eyeing the RPG Maker series on Steam for quite some time now and flash-sale just happens to be happening right now so I thought this would be the perfect time to invest.
I have been hugely into gaming ever since I was a little kid, and back then I used to spend a great deal of my free time coming up with stories and drawing maps and characters for non-existent games, so when I first heard of RPG Maker I was instantly very intrigued.
My question for you guys and girls is out of the many generations of RPG Makers that are now available on Steam, which one would you recommend for purchase?
Here is a little information about myself that might help you answer that question for me..
1. This may be the only RPG Maker game I ever purchase, so I would like for it to be the best "overall" one to showcase what it can do, but if I end up falling in love with it entirely and more new features and RPG maker's are released I may consider purchasing them.
2. As much as I would love to spend day/night on RPG Maker designing games, realistically I have a very busy life so as this is also going to be my FIRST RPG Maker style game, I would like for it to be one that is at least somewhat casual friendly so that I don't have to spend the majority of my time figuring out how the program even works and can actually enjoy more of the time I spend developing my game.
3. I would however like for the RPG Maker I choose to provide one of the highest level of visual quality, often times newer versions of games are an easy way to tell but I am not sure how this works with RPG Maker games. The reason the Quality is important to me is that if I do ever end up falling so in love with something I've created that I would be willing to spend countless hours on it until it's a fully polished final product I would like for it to be able to compete in the gaming world so that I can share it with others to try, I don't want my game to be only for my self, and I know how much Quality of a game can attract or scare away new players.
4. Finally this one is actually maybe not so important, but because I do produce my own music on Ableton I would be curious if there was easy support in all the RPG Maker games to add your own music and soundtracks. That would be pretty cool too.
Okay, so I guess my post ended up being a bit longer than I was anticipating, but that said I would really appreciate if some of you could perhaps read over what I am looking for and help me decide precisely which RPG Maker game would be best for me to purchase! Thanks in advance everybody! Cheers!
