What do you guys think about having a Pokemon design event, where we, as a community, make pokemon to put into one community fangame? I think it'll be fun, and Pokemon Essentials is developed enough for it.

Obviously it wouldn't happen right now considering the All Hallows' event and the possibility of holiday-themed events in the near future, but what are your thoughts, RMN?
Pokemon Essentials Wiki
Pokemon Essentials is a scripted engine that allows you to make a Pokemon-styled game with RPG Maker XP. It's been around for quite some time, and it's constantly being updated to accomodate new gens (I think it currently supports most of Pokemon B/W's features).
It ain't without a few bugs, but if you ever want to make a "true" pokemon fangame in RPG Maker, this is your best bet.
Here is a vid that shows some of the things it's capable of (the guy did change a few things in this game, though. By default, the level of wild pokemon are shown just like in the games, and while you probably can't tell due to audio issues, the pokemon do have cries):

Seems there are enough RMN Pokemon fans (I'm not among them; I plead ignorance). So I wouldn't see thy not ... except who's going to be charge of organizing it and deciding the event's parameters?

Good question. I'd be happy to lead this, though I really don't know what it takes to get the privileges of hosting a community event.
I think you just have to talk about it with kentona.
I might consider doing this if you make an event out of it. I tend to participate in sprite and review events more anyway.

Glad to see there is some interest in this! I'll come up with a draft of this wild idea of mine and send it to kentona sometime tomorrow.

Hm, but people would need to buy XP to run in the contest....
As Gourd stated, the contest would just be centered around designing Pokemon, and fitting them into Pokemon Essential's parameters. Assuming I would be in charge of this, inputting the design into the game and making something out of it would be handled by me. I want to keep this open to everyone. :)
