I don't know if there is any hope for SEGA in the future.

Big video game company sucks to work at, only wants to flog its cash cow; film at 11.

I mean, yeah, they make a lot of crappy Sonic shit, but they do have other games. Popular games, even!

None of this is particularly indicative of a downward slide for any company. Also it's all from a single person, so... yeah.

How about a Sega Exodus or a Sega Deuteronomy?
As long as Sega makes Yakuza games and people like Gio Corsi and Sony localize them then I'm happy with Sega's current output. Didn't know their internals were such a shitshow though (but I'm not surprised, constant deathmarches are frighteningly common in game dev)
The only thing I want from them is that they release Shining the Holy Ark on Steam.
I could try to play Shining in the Darkness but those colors completely destroy my retina. (and it has no MOTOI SAKURABA)

The articles I linked were actually pertaining to about 3+ people.

Ryan Drummond did voice acting for Sonic in his Adventure series games. His speech against SEGA came from the fact that he was kind of screwed out of a deal for a voice acting spot on Sonic Generations due to the ridiculous, soul-selling conditions of his contract.

The article that refers to it was by a former recruitment executive at SEGA who published a blog, anonymously of course, many years ago detailing his thoughts on the state of Sonic Team and SEGA as a whole.

The article about the mistreatment was authored by a different person and refers to various Glassdoor reviews in which it's completely debatable whether it's all by a single person or not.

To clarify all of this, I didn't mean "I don't know if there is any hope for SEGA to remain profitable in the future." I think with their move to mobile and PC stuff, they are good to go in that department. My actual intended meaning was "I don't know if there is any hope for SEGA to become less of a shitty company that consistently fails to live up to any standard it set in the past."

Sega had nothing to do with the second one though, and were the publishers for the first one.

I suppose I should tell you how Sega has given me something awesome in my life, then has done nothing but let me down these last several years.

I love Phantasy Star Online, and the Universe games. I even got the very PC im using now So I could play Phantasy Star Online 2. They said March 2013, but did it ever come? NOPE. I eventually lost my patience and got the japanese version with an unofficial translation patch. It was great, but keeping up with that patching was a pain at times. Another disappointment for me is that Phantasy star portable 2 infinity was never released in the US. Basically, I've given up on ever seeing an official English PSO2 (im not counting SEA server because the translation is WAAAY OFF, to put it nicely, and was closed off to non South East Asian countries, at least for a while, not sure if it still is). Denying the English fans Phantasy Star games continues; Phantasy Star Nova is NOT getting a western release as far as I can tell.

At this rate, all I can do is try to become a good enough dev to release something inspired by those games.

And here I wonder what the hell they are even doing with the Phantasy Star franchise. This sucks.

And private servers aren't really an options either! Yes, there is indeed PSOBB private server software, and I have even used it before, but basically, it isn't that good really, and the servers that do have some form of community left aren't that great. PSU AoI server software? It went somewhere for a bit, then the author dropped the project just when it was starting to look promising. I can only hope someone is doing hardcore reverse engineering of PSO2's stuff so we can get a server for that when sega shuts it down (its not a matter of if, just when. Sega has kinda always been that way though).
At least Sega have that one cash cow that people keep buying over and over and over again each year.
