Why is the enemy attack pattern part of the database a total pain to work with?

Haaaaa, yup! I think Bossgame has, like, four different scripts from four different authors that all have to do with managing enemy AI.

What's sad is that this reply is easier to understand and more intuitively designed than the default battle system of RM.

Well, to be fair, the vast majority of JRPG enemies don't have an attack pattern anyways, so they probably didn't think they needed to bother much with it.
So also I guess at this point Enterbrain is fully on the "just let the fan plugins/scripts/mods/hacks cover everything we didn't put in" train that a lot of software devs are on nowadays. Honestly, I'm surprised that all the fan scriptwriters for the RPG Maker series haven't banded together to just make their own open-source RPG Maker.
Granted, I haven't looked for such a thing, so maybe they already did!

RPG20XX might be the closest thing to it, and I think there were a few others that were short-lived. Not one of them were collaborated efforts, I think.
I'd be on board to help make an open source system. I mean it's not like someone says "code" and we go "derp". We have some rudimentary understanding of this shit, at the very least, and it's not like we don't know what goes into a maker or what we want from one. Problem is, most people don't have the time on their hands.
The problem with Wolfcoder's system is that it spent so long being useless, if it ever does get up and running properly, nobody's going to be interested.
