Oooh, okay. I get it now. Nevermind.
REDDAP's charset looks still like a skinned emo. Literally.
(Where'd you come from all of the sudden?)
In all honesty, a buddy of mine linked the topic to me because it referenced RPGM2KBRPG!, and I was so stunned that it was being brought up that I had to participate. Of course, that also meant that I had a stellar and professional frame of reference in which to talk about developing community games, even though the majority of the community from RPGM2KBRPG! left early in its production and it turned into a hot mess of crack ideas REDDAP and I had until we realized it was time to let it die. I should probably make a welcome topic for this stuff.
So once again, when developing a community game, enthusiasm and input from the community is beyond important. I also repeat things that are absurdly obvious.

Yeah, well, it was fine but REDDAP's character bothered me alot. He seemed like a skinned emo Mary Sue to me.
And he wasn't even as emo or Mary Sue as another prevalent character in the story.
But anyhow, to actually contribute to the topic, the thing about writing about real (internet) people for real (internet) people is that, as said above, you need to work with said people to come up with their respective characters. That makes it a little difficult to write even a vaguely cohesive story without making it either too esoteric or just flat out off the wall. So really, it would probably require a lot of involvement with all the people that are "in" it to really work, and even at that, you'll be asking yourself repeatedly if the concept and idea is worth the effort in the end.
For a very short term project, I think it can be done decently, but trust me, it gets difficult in the long run without eventually turning it into an entirely different beast. If you think you can play out the idea for as much as the novelty of the idea is worth, then there's no harm in at least giving it a shot and seeing how it might actually look.
