I feel like I have no potential sometimes. I know it's stupid to post this. It's been on my mind a lot lately, and I been feeling really down.

I don't plan to give up. It just seems like not many people think I can make my games better especially Mystic Guardians. The reason I care so deeply about that one is because I really want it to get at least 4, out of 5 stars when it's complete, because I really want to make a sequel to it, in RPG Maker MV.
EDIT: Sorry Ratty we must have posted at the same time. I feel that way because not many people think I can make my Mystic Guardians game better, and I really want to make a sequel to it like I said.

*huuuugs* Hugs to you! Is alright to feel that way, so nothing stupid about it. Just important to remind you of the times you can see it. And honestly, you're doing alright now, and it will only get better to reach what you actually want to craft.

Do be careful when you say "other people don't think.." because often that's our mind tricking us when it is something we believe ourselves somewhere (about others or ourselves, when it is untrue). Others will not care as much as you do - they aren't working on it and putting in the effort, after all. But that doesn't mean they can't see it better, which is usually exactly where the want to give feedback comes from (is hard to help out, give ideas or improvement if you just get the finished thing).
I know you wanted to overhaul a range of things, it would be really kool to see a few details and what it was all about tho. You'll get there. Not sure if 5 stars is pushing it, but you can definitely get to a decent game.

Eh. I personally wouldn't make a sequel unless people are interested in it.
Still, I think the core issue here is you are letting people's negative feedback cut too deeply into you. Trust me, I know it hurts, but it's going to happen to you no matter what, and if you really like making games, you don't let that stop you from creating.
99% of RMN users have gone through the same thing with their first games. But if we all stopped or gave up there would be like Me Patra here only.
Just learn from it and take it all in!

People are pumping up out shitty pay2win mobile games, then you got rpg maker shovelware on steam. You have a lot less to worry about than you think at the current rate.
I feel like I have no potential sometimes.
I think everyone has potential, but it's just that some luck upon that potential more than others. Some may put in the hard work for years and not see a single improvement. At least they tried.
But nevertheless, for me it's the journey that counts. The journey of learning, creating, etc. I've found that my greatest happiness creating comes from creating something that I know I will enjoy, and then hoping others will enjoy it like I do. It may not be the recipe for creating a popular hit, but I think it's a good method to use to create things that are unique and special. And if others don't like your game, you can always open it up yourself and have a good old time experiencing your own beloved game again <3
Everyone has potential. Some folk just don't utilize it, you feeling that you have no potential, to my mind demonstrates that you do have potential, you're just in a creative rut.
I feel like I've told this story once before, so, I'm hide-tagging it.
Waaaaaaaaaaaay back, I got this LP from Liberty in regards to my first game on here, Legacy Reborn. I'll spare you the details, and say that she tore the thing to shreds. My reaction was absolutely terrible: I cancelled the game, tossed the download out the window, and tried to forget it ever existed. Though, to my credit, I took her advice, and applied what I could to my next game, Matsumori Days. To be fair, that game got ripped a bit too, if I recall, but, I wasn't willing to give up on that game as easily as Legacy Reborn.
I didn't really publish a "good" game until... Okiku, Star Apprentice? Which is the ninth game I've published on here. THE NINTH GAME!!! So, yeah, it's definitely been a journey of learning what I'm capable of, what the engine is capable of, and where the two meet to make the best game I can.
Oh, by the way, the best part of this story is that Legacy Reborn was eventually risen from it's grave. Quite literally, in fact!

Thank you. I guess I just need to keep at it then.
EDIT: Sorry Marrend we must have posted at the same time. That's a quite interesting thing that happened to you. I'll be sure to check out those games :)

Yeah, rather than focusing on becoming the best, focus on doing what you like/want and what you do best. You can't please everyone at any rate, so just please those who will appreciate your work. Don't let the negatives get to you.
I know it's easier said than done, but if you can do the above and really enjoy doing what you do best rather than focusing on pleasing everyone, you'll be a happy person :)

I know you have some really good ideas, Rose! Try not to get too wrapped up in being the best like others say~
Keeping at it and improving little by little is the way!

Did I really? I don't remember the game, sorry! >.<; Usually I remember games that are really bad, so it must not have been that bad.

I really need to check that out. XP
I don't think I felt that I had no potential in the past, though there were definitely things I gave up on in regards to content creation. The game I've been working with for years has a scripting engine that is a mother ****ing nightmare compared to any issues Rpg Maker can muster.
I managed to make a few playable levels that weren't recreations of what the game came with, though they were very simplistic and there wasn't a scripted ending or an option to progress to the next mission.
I tried to make something more ambitious, but eventually my tagset somehow got corrupted, and I decided to quit. Aside from not having the patience to put up with the scripts refusing to compile, there were irl situations that were destroying my sanity, and I needed a break from the tough stuff.
Later on, I decided to start the project over and work with what I had. The result wasn't what I wanted, but the people who saw what I made enjoyed some aspects of it. I realized that there were ways to still make decent content without compiled scripts, and there are people who would get why I couldn't make something that would win a trophy.
I recall anyone giving me criticism on the levels I made for the game that completely demoralized me, though I doubt anything like that would have damaged my resolve.
One thing everyone here should keep in mind; don't let someone keep you from completing your projects. Just because someone provides harsh criticism or gives you a hard time doesn't mean you don't have any potential, nor does it mean that your project can't improve. Nobody has the right to tell you what you can and can't do with your hobbies, and they can't keep you from doing what you desire.
However, constructive criticism is often helpful, and it will end up benefiting whatever you intend to do.
Thank you JadeShadow. There are some people that are not constructive though. I always seem to get those people sadly. Not everyone who commented, on my game, or reviewed it were non constructive though. Another thing that bothers me is people always seem to make cruel jokes on my games, and I don't think they should, because I can't tell they're joking. When online people shouldn't joke a certain way, because I can't see their expression, or hear their voice.

While many of them tend to be trolls, a good chunk of them don't consider how the maker is going to feel when they see the review. They're just stating an opinion, not actually trying to do anything malicious.
Regardless, what they say isn't a good reason to quit.

People are going to do those kinds of things online when it comes to video games. I can recite a number of nasty jokes aimed at Superman 64, Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing, Bubsy 3D, and a few other games that were frequently mocked over the years. But bad games aren't the only things that are made fun of, good games also get plenty of **** tossed at them (just take a look at the reception given to Halo 5: Guardians).
Nobody can actually prevent someone from displaying their cruel sense of humor, and you can see plenty of examples on youtube. The only thing you can do is tell yourself that their jokes don't reflect your potential, and that doesn't mean the games can't improve.
Don't let their jokes dictate what you do, or how you feel.
