[VX Ace] Making these skills work?

I want to make a few skills, but I'm fumbling around when trying to work them out.

1) Throwing Skill: Ala FF Ninjas. I want them to throw only certain items, and I'm unsure if I can add the number to the skill description itself, or make a menu showing just those items.

2): "On-field spell" Kinda hard to describe, but something like adding a turret that hits enemies every turn. I want to also have it so you can put down several down later as a upgrade. I don't know how to deal with reaching the limit though (as in, how to dispose of the oldest "On-field").

3) Skills that require a specific skill in order to activate beforehand.

4) Transformation skill. I could use a state, but how about a actor for certain additions, like a completely different set of commands and equipment?

Character abilities

I like versatility, it lets you have characters that can perform most roles. The problem I sort of have is that they can perform most roles, kinda losing a bit of uniqueness to me.

I would like synergy within the party though. I mean, okay the mage can blow up everything, but dies if someone breaths on him. So, have a paladin cover him! The fighter can't do anything because he's all physical? Have a mage enchant his blade with a element and watch him go to town! Characters who have their strength, and their weakness can be covered by someone else. Or maybe just go all out and say "Hey, gonna have everyone do tons of damage or die trying".

I'm terrible at balancing, but I also think "Why should I use x?" if I'm making a character/class. Why should I use the Fighter? Because he can deal constant damage without running out of MP for the boss, and he slowly turns into a wrecking ball during a prolonged fight. Why should I use the Rogue? Because the enemies here are fast, and she can steal much needed healing items from them. Why should I use the Cleric? Because he can help us conserve said healing items, and banish the undead. The Mage? Save her up so she can unload all her flashy spells over the boss.

Well that's my one cent that probably doesn't make sense.

[Poll] Unique party members vs job system

Ah, a dozen classes, so many to choose from!

On the other hand, it kinda sometimes goes down to "Hey your job level is high enough for the next tier, ditch this old junk of a class!" sort of pathing. Aside from that, I don't mind either, although maybe a bit of hybrid-ness is nice.

Come play LoL with us!

Well, we turned Trundle into a ice champ to make him sell, so why not add another ice champion to the mix?

Lissa doesn't really interest me though.

did u kno… killing is bad???

I can't think of many games that can take a no-killing view and make it usable. Metal Gear sort of does that with non-lethal weapons and higher ranks for not slaughtering people. Heck, the recent games with Big Boss lets you recruit enemy soldiers, so offing everyone is bad in the long run.

Iji had something like that too, although I never finished that.

Video game tunes that get stuck in your head often?

This is just too catchy, especially the intro.

What Videogames Are You Playing Right Now?

League of Legends:
My Team: People who somehow go 0/10/1 in lane by 10 minutes and never communicate
Their Team: Pros that coordinate well and can think every possible move.

Such is the life of solo queue @_@

Anyway, playing Bastion as it was on my backlog. I get hit too much and can't complete the challenges (for first prize anyway). Oh well, could do them later I suppose.

Like a boss

Let's see my ideas are:

Valance of the Shield
- Attempts to block your path after getting the *insert plot item here* out of the old ruins, delaying them so they can be captured by the soon coming force.
- He has two large shields on him, one will cover him him from (one physical attack, and the other magical. Taking both out will make him more vulnerable, but lets him be more offensive with his fists.
- His armor is incredibly strong, but using a ice attack will greatly slow him down. Using a fire-based attack will then crack it, decreasing his defense while making him more mobile and faster.
- At some point, one of your allies will tell you that the party can flank him, but will put them more at risk as he can focus on a specific target. Saying yes to the plan will confuse the boss for a while, but afterwards he'll start being able to ram one character into the wall, doing major amounts of damage.
- If the enemy force gets too close, your ally says another plan: just destroy the floor underneath Valance! It'll "defeat" him instantly, but causing the rest of the ruin's floor to collapse, barring you from some goodies that you can't get until later in the game.

I think of it like either trying to rush him down before reinforcements come, or fighting him until you can think of something that'll put a end to it quickly.

and

The Prophet
- Has several minions that are coloured in their roles. Let's say one that just attacks, one that casts magic, one that causes status effects, and a healer.
- On certain turns he'll say "I predict Ally will get hit by Y two minutes from now!" If that ally does get hit by Y on the second turn afterwards, then the Prophet can do a special attack. If he's wrong, he'll be disoriented or take damage himself.
- If he just says it outright without the predict part, then the character will get hit, and so you can defend against it when that turn comes.
- If he says "my minion will still be alive three minutes from now!" it'll be similar as well.
- Of course, he'll try everything to make it happen, if it's "ally will defend" he'll make that character go berserk, if it's "attacked by Y" he'll summon/change his all his minions into casters, etc.
- As a desperation move, he'll say "You all will be doomed on the fifth minute!" which is a sign that you should go all out before he uses a powerful spell. Unless you can somehow manage to live through it (overleveling+def buffs?), which will cause him just keel over from the shock.

New here!

I use a ton of names, but you can call me Rune.

I decided to join, so I could comment on games I like here.

I'm dabbling in using RPG Maker VX Ace, and I have to say, it's really easy to use! Although I have no talent in art or music, so I'm just limited to user-made sets instead (And I'm not sure about music; I tend to kept things muted). Won't send any of the games though, for a couple reasons, so I'll just settle on asking about X or Y until I can.

Kismet: Privateer

Well it looks certainly interesting! I do like the whole "Adept-Mundane-Mage" idea, since I'm a sucker for justified mechanics.
