Your favorite game EVER!
This is a near impossible question to answer, because everyone generally loves many games over time for different reasons.
For the sake of answering the question though, I'll say Chrono Cross. To this day, with all the games that have been released, it remains the most beautiful game ever, musically and visually.

Motivation Problems
I'm noticing a theme in your activities; it's all video games, and it all involves you working on something. You are likely out of creative energy. Spend too much time creating and you're bound to hit a wall.
Take some time to relax and/or appreciate the works of others. This will allow new ideas to come into your head, and perhaps inspire you to take your work in a different direction than you might have once thought. I'm not suggesting that you just straight-up jot others' ideas down for your own use, just to allow yourself to draw inspiration from them.
I've had the same problem many times. Change up your routine for a while, and then go back when you feel you're ready.

The ripple effects don't really mesh well with your chipset, nor do they really add any real sense of liveliness to the scene.
If you want to flesh out your environments, employ some background sfx of water running and/or wind blowing. You could probably even get away with adding some fauna if it's not a hostile area.
I really like that character sprite.
Professor McLogic Saves the Day
I don't mean to alarm you Gib, but I started from the beginning again and I think I broke the game:

The Longing Ribbon
Playing through a second time. I just found the "truck". I can't believe I missed it the first time through. Wat?

author=GibmakerIIRC, it was Windwhip Peak, or whichever the last area is.author=S32Whathow! No such midi is used in the game. When did this error occur?
There's a MIDI file missing from the game. It's "BGM_Negative02.mid" or something. It's not an urgent matter, but I thought you'd like to know.
EDIT: Nevermind, it looks like the event that points to it isn't actually referenced in the game script. Yes, I snooped around in the game files.

[Poll] What type of Youtube Video do you prefer?
Let's Play videos are the most interesting, especially when they're produced by someone interesting to listen to, like HCBailly or Deceased Crab.
