Sprite Animation Feedback
I'm not entirely sure if this is the right place to post this, but...
I've been working on a new sprite sheet, and I've just finished the base outline, but I'm having a lot of trouble being satisfied with the walking animation.
The upper body I'm satisfied with, but I really can't figure out what to do with the legs. It doesn't look like he's walking forward so much as...sliding his feet around?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

VX ACE: HP Status outside of battle?
So basically I'm trying to create a faux battle system by only using events and entirely avoiding the built-in battle processing. But I already have a problem:
How can I display HP and other gauges outside of battle? Would I just have to make them as images and manually animate the gauge filling/emptying?

Puzzle design?
I really need advice for setting up 'escape the room'-esque puzzles. For those that have experience designing puzzles, what's your process? How do you plan solutions and things like that? I'm trying to be clever, but I really don't know where to start.
[RM2k3] Multiple variable check?
I suppose the easiest way to explain my question is to tell what kind of game it's for: a visual novel/dating sim. Nothing serious--just a silly little birthday present for my sister. But that isn't important.
Basically, I'm trying to figure out if there's a way to set up a conditional branch that checks and acts based on the values of multiple variables. Every girl in the game has a "Like" variable. Every time you make one happy, a point is added to the variable.
Toward the end, I need a way for the game to check every girl's "Like" value and execute certain scenes based on which one is the highest. How would I go about that?
Thanks for any help!

[RM2K3] Some cutscene help
Hi again.
I'm trying to program a 'cutscene' in which the main character is stopped by another character running on screen. A message is exchanged, and then the NPC starts walking off with the main character following right behind.
I've got everything up until I need the hero to follow the NPC. I can't seem to get them both to move at the same time.
Oh, and if it makes a difference, I was moving the NPC by using her sprite as the icon for the event, and then using 'Move This Event'. If that's not the way I should do it, please let me know.
Thank you.

[RM2K3] Trying to learn some basics
Alright. I've been fiddling around with this program for two years, but I'm only now starting to seriously dedicate myself to learning my way around it. I've perused countless tutorials and lurked on other peoples' questions, trying to teach myself what I needed to know. My process usually involved:
-Seeing what someone asked for help with
-Reading the code that was supplied as the answer
-Going through every line and saying, "Okay, that's the part that makes it do this, and these other parts come in when it needs to do that. And that's how they fit together. Got it."
However, there are a few things I haven't been able to grasp with this method, and I was hoping some wonderful people could give me some quick explanations. So here goes.
1) What exactly is a loop, and in what circumstances would it be used?
2) Can I get a more detailed explanation of the importance and use of an event's x and y coordinates?
I actually have a few more, but they get kind of broad and I'm not sure if I'm allowed to load up a single topic with a bunch of questions like that, so I'll leave these for now.
Thank you~!

Changing Title Screen?
If any of you have ever played Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories for the GBA, you know what I'm aiming for.
Basically, after you play through (and win) the game, you can play again with a bonus (either a new character's POV, new items, whatever). But the main thing is: when you've completed the game, the title screen changes.
How exactly would you do that?

I like robots that sing.
Specifically, UTAU.
Saki, dear, what is UTAU?
Well I'm glad I asked. UTAU is a free, slightly ghetto-er version of VOCALOID.
And...what is VOCALOID?
Seriously? It's...well, it's this:

Anyway, back to UTAU. I'm part of the overseas UTAU community that make our own voices. Mine is Sakura Kankura, and I love her with all my heart. Would you like to hear her sing~? Oh, of course you would.

So...do any of you use/like UTAU? ouo

Howdy doo
My name's Courtney, but I go by Saki. Or Joe. Either.
Totally just kidding. Joe was my mother.
Anyway, I was inspired to try making games by two major projects: Yume Nikki and Ib. If you haven't heard of them, I highly recommend looking into them. :D
Anyway, since I'm a (insert age here) teenager, I kind of suck at making games.
And it has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that I'm mashing the keys like a monkey over here.
So, if you're patient enough, maybe you can teach me just what the heck I'm doing, and I can be your fwiend. ouo
