While a lot of browser mmos may not be the best, this one honestly, delivers! First off, it's set in the steampunk era meaning everything is going to be powered by steam (duh), so expect classic weapons like the blunderbuss~ There're 9-10 races including goblins, elves, humes, orcs, dwarves and purplish skinned humanoids each with their own unique racial skillset, as well as a slightly different storyline.

You can choose from one of four classes: Arcanist, which are pure DPS Mages, Warders, being the pure fighter/tank class, Channeler, the healing/buffing type, and Gunner, the "really" long range shooters of the steampunk era. Adding onto those classes, you can choose from one of three disciplines, as well as what type of weapon you wish to give them, either a weapon/shield, two handed weapon, or duel weapons. (Yeah, ANY class can use these, like duel pistols/machine guns, giant staff, gun and shield, stuff like that! :D) Plenty of variety, to be honest.

The game itself is 3d, despite being a browser mmo, so basically expect what you'd expect from any 3d game, only without the massive downloads of games like World of Warcraft or Lord of the Rings Online. However, because it is a browser mmo, the customization is slightly limited, though it varies from race to race.

Now, onto the real game, you start off in a massive "city of steam" called Nexus, that has just become under attack by devilish creatures called "The Brood", that rip apart the city, leaving your only option to escape from the Nexus. Gameplay is immensely different depending on what weapon you chose at the beginning, and even what discipline you took, as you can start out as an acid spewing gunslinger, or a divine cleric focused on healing. You can branch out and open different disciplines starting at level 10, to have a really wide array of skills at your disposal.

Dungeons, which are areas marked a glowing purple skull, play out like classic exploration areas. If you have any keys, you can even open up a few extra treasure chests along the way. Now, I'm just gonna say, most of these enemies, even at the lower levels like 3-4 can hit extremely hard if your armor sucks, and if you run into a mob, you'd best either find an exit fast, or attempt to kill 'em as they have wide aggro ranges, and running won't save your life. Don't let that discourage you though, as you can also hold down the block button for a short amount of time, which is extremely useful if using a shield to prevent a mass amount of damage.

City of Steam more or less plays out like any other mmorpg out there; slay monsters, do quests and level up, get new equipment, items, and such, however the story really drew me in alot, and I found it purely epic when I was playing as a Goblin to be holding a giant Blunderbuss and shooting gallons of acid at my enemies. Lol~

I highly recommend this game, as it's a lot of fun. Even if steampunk isn't your thing, at least check it out. (It's currently in the closed beta testing stage, so even though there's already alot in this game, expect it to grow quite a bit~) :)
