Intersted long ago by making my own game with RPG maker XP, i've been defeated by my two most powerfull nemesis, laziness and IRL life; but i still follow some projects into the shadows waiting for a game i would enjoy to play.

I only have about 100 or so SE's from FF8. All the main ones are there but majority of spell/enemy/misc ones are not, so I'm making do with what I have. Usually I'll do a pitch adjustment if it's an RTP SE though, so it doesn't really sound like an RTP game, at the very least :c

Hum... there are 700 sound effects in FF8 for a weight close of 48 Mo
Don't remember very well the way i did that, but i extracted them long ago from a PC version of FF8 at times where i was trying to make my own FF8 fangame.
Something i perfectly remember is the time i spent to put a small description in 80% of Sound effects name to more easily found what i was looking for.
Seriously, people who make fangames are crazy...

Very, very nice.
Did you use FFVIII 's sound effects for spells animations ?

Also good work on facesets; already knew squall's (http://rpgmaker.net/games/4070/images/27548/ )
but Galbadian soldiers are nice too.

I'm not using Limit Breaks. What were limit breaks in the series or Dissidia are now skills with cooldowns and the like. I don't like how Limit Breaks skew battle dynamics, so they've been cut.

So no more "Aura" spells or will you use it to reduce "limit skills" cooldowns ?

Will you include "double" and "triple" spells in gameplay ?
Or a "all" effect to hit multiple targets with a single target spell ?
(Sorry if i'm a little too curious)

Sorry to return on the subject.
I just reread the "system" part of your game and i was wondering
how limit break will work in SLH ?
How are they triggered ?

Very nice, as usual.
I'm really eager to see all this animated.
Probably next week if i correctly understood the 04/04 news.

One dumb question:
The command box got a "passives" command line. Based on ff8 i would say passives are skills like str+40%, auto speed etc; so does that passive line mean we will be able to switch our passives skills in battle ?
If yes, we'll really have a wonderfull flexibility in combat, meaning we 'll adapt to anything in our way.
Will we have some kind of penalty by using it in battle (losing the current turn for example) ?

April will be very long this year.

I have been inwardly debating whether or not to actually give Squall a proper gun that he keeps hidden on the brace for emergency circumstances- such as losing his gunblade during a hectic fight. He knows how to use one (it's part of gunblade training) but idk.
Squall seems like the kind of person who knows what he likes and sticks with it. If he were disarmed he would probably switch to magic and spend most of the fight trying to retrieve his gunblade.

Totally agree with LockeZ on that.
Even if Squall is better with a gunblade, his Magic stat in FF8 show us he's one of the best magic user ( not as good as Rinoa and Edea but those two are witches),
his fighting style in Kingdom heart demonstrates this too, when foe is out of range, Squall casts a fire spell; same thing in Dissidia Squall has a lot of mid -long range magic to deal with ranged ennemies.
FF8 and Dissidia shows us too he can fight using his fists, knees and kicks at close range if needed but i can't imagine him using a standard gun, it's just not his style.
Squall's encounter quote when facing gilgamesh in Dissidia 012:
"- I need but one blade."

That being said, it's a nice artwork.

-It'll be up for all relevant maps. I'm not sure why you'd want to hide it?

To fully enjoy your awesome maps of course; and avoid the possibility to have some important clue or item hidden behind when exploring.

Thanks for all those informations.
