Quest Questers

I really liked the game. Art and monsters were just delightful and characters were very nice. I found middle quests somewhat monotone, but the final ones made up for that.

Really enjoyed this version of Ctullhu and the gag with his final form not fitting the temple/scene.

Probably the biggest "minus" for me was that fights were a bit monotone as well, not in difficulty (played on hard mode), but they were too straightforward until higher level skills, although the cute art really helped to overlook it, and the 'bonus' quest was more exciting.

Overall it was very enjoyable, and just so nice to play.

WheelmanZero, i havent decided whether i want spoilers or i would rather go into the game spoiler-free, so i will postpone reading for now.

to be honest, I think i just got lucky when fighting Athena that time, although i did grind to see what skills some of the summons i barely used have.

I actually wonder how marionette spell works from the characters perspective in-universe - i imagine someone like Azrielle wouldnt be happy with it,lol.

Thanks for the answers, WheelmanZero, dd33!

WheelmanZero, regarding certain battle
Athena's second battle - i noticed the comment about not being able to win, but i thought there would be more monologue and if we last long enough, either the dudes would come to the resque, or Athena would reveal some weekness to exploit. I replayed the final part of the game, and wining with level-uped (so she has the nebulous field spell) Demora is extremely easy, it feels like cheating, out of curiousity i tried wining without Demora, and almost managed rotating Mira, Darkle and Catastrophe.

Oh, minor curiousity i noticed - if Damien is "killed" while doing the marionette spell, not only marionette stays, but if you revive Damien he can do another one, while the first one still goes.

I mentioned Mira and Hilda, because Mira is the most unhappy with her summon status and with Pandora, and with Hilda i think she would be working under Gryger.

If you don't mind, my, probably very wrong, speculation about what happens in the sequel (but if you think it is annoying i would edit it out):

-Nebra will be in the heroes party. She has some earth-related dark magic.
-Hilda is working under king Gryger. Not sure whether he is a bad boss who only belittles her when she loses to the heroes, or a not-so-bad boss who is pissed when she falls (after replaying the final part and have him in the party when fighting Odin the second time, i lean towards the latter). Maybe they already started expansion to the other continents and thats how the sequel begins.
-We have to fight Rosalin's mutated insane daddy (because Markus tries to tell something about what happenes with vampires when they have too much power) who was sealed in the restricted area of her castle
-Vampire castle becomes the headquarters? They have all those red circles there.
-To restore Ragnarok Pandora has to sacrifice her life (and knows it from the begining), Lanith agrees to aid the heroes when she finds out.
-Pandora can fuse with Draconus like Perseus did.
-Have to fight puppet citizens of Reddin.
-Grelda tries to sacrifice herself for Azrielle. There is a new demon lord in the end, whether Azrielle lives or dies.
-Heroes have to ally with the rich folk of that mansion - in exchange for freeing their daughter from Talon
-Athena was imprisoned after the fight. Perseus and (somehow) Odin escaped, will get called out for their and the king's bs by the heroes (at least i hope so)
-Final confrontation happens either in that volcano area or in the place where pandora's village used to be

Umbral Soul

This was the second "proper" rpg game i played, and i enjoyed it. The plot and the characters were engaging, i was interested to see how they would develop.

Art for the characters and monsters was very nice, i especially liked how Noire (spelling? sorry, i am terrible with names) summon looked design-wise; and evolving the creatures was always exiting. Kinda wish there was more nonhuman, enchatable summons than humanoid ones. I was very delighted to have the hornet queen. Got her even before Damien and used mostly her for the first part of the game.

I did find the fights a bit too easy - i didn't grind on purpose (although i wandered a lot because i wanted to be sure i didn't miss anything), but the only hard bosses were
Reinhard (got a gameover first time) and the Arc thingy in the palace (was stuck with it). I also found Mira and the plant monster very hard. Odin's and Perseus battles were very easy. Athena's second battle was very...frustrating, i lasted around 20 minutes, because i didn't know it can be unbeatable on purpose, and with Pandora+health regeneration it was going nowhere, with most summons getting killed, while Pandora and Athena would regenerate.

On the other hand i didn't evolve all of the summons, only fully evolved the dragon and chimera and evolved slime once. I feel like i wasn't using the summons right and should've switched between them more. Their number was a bit overwhelming (i think i've used the phoenix and the poison monster maybe once, and i never had Demora level up to the useful ability other posters mentioned in this thread). But very nice that you can still have some dialogue about/with non-enchantable sumons if you ask Markus to enchant them, some pretty funny.

I don't know how unpopular opinion it is, but i wouldn't mind more puzzles (although had to look up the music one). And it would've been good if after you beat Talon guy you could just skip the route to the bandit lair.

Some thoughts about the plot and characterisation: i enjoyed most of the characters, but i think the "heroes", especially Serene, should've had more "bite" in their dialogue:

Would've been really nice if Pandora was confronted by someone who also lost everyone they love as a child, maybe a healer or a nondark mage who doesn't hurt innocents, but doesnt let go of their anger at the bad people either. Or just some peasant woman who lost her parents and buried 2 husbands and 10 children but keeps going on. Pandora's reaction would've been interesting. I really felt like interactions with Serene were a bit shallow and there were more things Serene could've said. I guess, no one else really knows about it, but confronting Pandora with the fact that Ragnarok was basically grooming her from childhood for the mission and using that to turn her against him would've been more interesting.

Other small things i liked/didnt like:

-really liked Damien and Markus's dialogue in the calm before the storm scenario and after Damien spares that sister. While it was more about Damien, i liked how it added more dimension to Markus & touched his mothers death.
-Overall, didnt like Lanith and the way succubi were portrayed. I found her making all the "tasty boy" comments about Damien, who i assume is supposed to be in his late teens-early twenties(?) creepy and not funny/cute. Yes, succubi are not humans but with the way she is at the same time portrayed as big sister-like figure to Pandora, it is very hard not to notice that she is much older, and it isn't really challenged in the story unlike general sucubi killings.
-But i did like the cutscenes with Lanith and Lanith&Pandora's post-sucubi village dialogue/scenes, and liked Hilda too
-Liked Mira's story

I really liked how it didn't fall into the "evil guys are actually 100% right" trope, and that the "hero" side had both unpleasant people and seemingly genuinely good ones.

Overall i liked the game, and i really liked the ending. It was different than what i expected, but now i really want the sequel.

Some questions:

-The mayor of the Lyra village and his wife are the parents of that dark mage girl from Markus's backstory, right?
-Would summons who have their own stories like Hilda and Mira feature in the sequel and would their connections to other characters be expanded on?
-Would the lady who killes sucubi reappear?
-What does TP mean? i understand what it does in game, but what does "T" stands for? (other games i played didnt have it)

Casia

Hi! This was the first rpg game i've ever played and i really enjoyed it - i've only played horror & puzzle games before, and i didn't even know what hp and sp mean when i started, but it was quite easy to catch up. I feel like the only major let down for me is that after beating the game and returning to the map there is no aknowledgement that you actually beat the big bad and nothing is changed with Casia's brother.

I liked how different music was used between the Diablos fight and the final fight, it helped to create different mood and not make it too monotone. And in general i really loved the horror areas (the Castle beyound the Graveyard, Murre fortress, lava areas).

I kinda wish there were more interactions between the characters and more reactions from npcs to the plot - especially when Casia and Co save the Dela town/Murre from the Elf/Mette (i was expecting that the Murre people would aknowledge that Jesse was in the party and either pardon or refuse to pardon her).

I have some questions too:

1. Do any other villains reappear after defeating undead Tomas? (before going to the purgatory i had only "save Luuk" left in the quest book).

2. There was a letter inviting Casia and Daan to the party for the Toro city survivors, but i couldn't find where/when it is...it says the house with the orange roof but those houses were always closed. Did i screw it up when i rejected the boyfriend? The guy who was talking to Daan also doesn't reappear.

3. Found a letter adressed to Ralph, but can't find him. It also doesn't show up in the quest book. Was it someone from the destroyed Aldi? Found him.

4. i am embarassed that i don't get it, but the chess puzzle in the Hero city, - made left and right parts symmetrical but it did nothing?

5. Just out of curiousity - what is Lenka's gender? Lenka tells that girl at the disco that she is a girl and in the walkthrough is refered as "she", but Yenka calls Lenka "he" - so is Lenka a boy and was messing with that girl?

6. What was the meaning of the "chose the person you trust" puzzle? Was it just luck or were the people supposed to be someone from the game?
