World Map
Alright the topic post has been edited. I made a map with all the desired features and provided instructions on how I want this done.
World Map
Alright I'll put up a notice at the top of the thread to not accept the request currnetly, and then I'l update the thread with all the information needed to make the map. I won't be able to do it now though, but it should be updated by tomorrow. Thanks for the tips :)
World Map
That's actually pretty much what I'm looking for. I didn't want to make a recruitment topic because it was only one thing I was looking for (a World Map) so I thought it would be better suited here. I was thinking someone would decide to offer their help and then through PM I could continue to give them further details as I have a lot info and I didn't want to cram it all in this thread.
World Map
Hey that looks great! I like the second one more though, the first looks a little too unrealistic. But do you know how to add water and extra details to the map? If so I'll PM you the extra details. Thanks so much for doing this :D
World Map
Hm I have seen such a pprogram but I haven't considered getting it partly because it cost a lot. However, I'll check out some videos to see if it's worth purchasing. Thanks for the idea!
World Map
(Noobie question: How do you use spoilers here? It's different from other RM sites I've been a part of)
Introduction
Hey everyone :) I've been scripting an Interactive World Map System for my game very similar to Final Fantasy Tactics. In order for me to make sure I know where I'm going, I wanted to get the World Map finished so I can start scripting in the coordinates and paths of the map. The artist that's working for the my team has been really busy and I'd rather not get him to do it as I've already asked too much lol :P

Here’s basically how I need the process to get done. I’ve made an example map of what needs to be drawn/made and where it needs to be placed (this map will be referred to as “my map” or “the first image” in the instructions):
WITH BORDERS

WITHOUT BORDERS

This is the quality I would like for the finished product so please use this as an example throughout (this map will be referred to as the “second image” in the instructions):

Instructions/Request:
1. (preferable) draw a map on an 8 ½ by 11 sheet of paper horizontally. Use the map that I made for a reference but improve the outline. As of now, mines looks like spread out long lines, however, when you look at the second image, the outline is much more realistic.
2. Now you have two options. If you want to keep drawing the land features on paper, skip to step 4, if you want to scan the image now and draw the features in a graphics editing program, go to step 3.
3. After you finish drawing the outline that is of the quality of the second picture but resembles the first, scan it onto the computer and try to get the color of the land the same as the color for the land for the second image. The water however, should be a medium dark blue. Then draw on your computer the features I’ve put in my first picture (make them a little smaller though). If you have any troubles wondering what a feature is, please ask me. I would also prefer that you keep the land/water on a different layer than the features if possible in the program you are using. (Go to Step 5)
4. Draw the features on the paper (make them a little smaller) but be sure you know of way to split the features and the land/water onto different layers when you scan the image into a computer as that would be preferred if anything ever needs to go back and be edited. If that is not possible, just keep drawing the features. (Go to Step 5)
5. Color in all the features and make sure the darkness and texture is similar to the land/water. Next, if you know of a way to keep the inner-district borders looking clean and realistic please add them in, if not, do not bother with it.
6. Finally, make the opacity of all the features a little less as I will have those little circles that you can see in the second image on this map and I want people to be able to see clearly those little circles as well as the lines connecting the circles.
7. Always check back at the second image to make sure quality of the image your making is close to that. If you have any questions, please ask :)
P.S. Also if you want, here's a video (in the beggining):
