This fixed it for me:

Make an afm_game_starter.exe shortcut

Right click > Properties

Go to the Compatibilty Tab

Check the “Run this program in compatibility mode for:” box and select “Windows XP (Service Pack 3)

Also check “Disable display scaling on high DPI settings”
(On Windows 10, it's on "Change high DPI settings"> "Override high DPI scaling behavior. Scaling performed by: Application")

Also check “Run this program as an administrator”
