Super Mario Quest - An SMBX Project

Just a quick update:

Proof that the project is not dead yet...

Super Mario Quest - An SMBX Project

After almost a month of laboring on this project, I finally manage to finish the entire World 1. And because of that I am thinking of releasing a demo to see whether players will enjoy it or not. I am not very confident considering the fact that this project was repeatedly criticized for its frequent graphical clashes. I'm not even sure if the gameplay could compensate for these clashes. I will address the clash issues later but since this is an RPG, and I don't have graphic artists nor all the resources for the in demand in-game graphic sprites, I had to pick everything I have and put it in the game.

The demo can be found here:
Super Mario Quest Demo v.1.0b

Please let me know of any bugs so that I could correct it. Note that I can only fix bugs at the moment. The graphic clashes will have to wait until this game is complete. To those who support... my heartfelt thanks...

Yeah, that was already brought to my attention. I did a rehash on the girl Toad, turning it slimmer. But, I couldn't find a sprite to replace her so it'll stay there until the later versions.

The high definition graphics may also have to stay. Graphics right now, is not my main priority. Clashes will most likely appear on the levels where NPC interaction is more prevalent.

Thanks for the feedback guys...

As to the question how? SMBX has a built-in dialogue system that allows NPCs to talk, and a simple event functionality, which allows me to attach dialogues into certain in-game triggers and initiate some special functions like sidequests. There is also a simple hardcoded graphic hack that remove the exclamation over talking NPCs, and the rest are graphic tricks that make up for an RPG illusion.

OK, thanks for the heads up...

Requesting for the mods to please delete this page.

SMBX Super Mario Quest

Hi, I'm not sure if this is the right place to present a game development project. And I'm also not sure if this forum is exclusive to the RPGMaker engine alone, but I have seen some SMBX projects here. If this is the wrong place for this post, please move my topic.

Here, I would like to present to you guys my SMBX project. It's currently on the works but I intend to add this on this site once it's complete. Furthermore, it's an RPG so I think it is somewhat acceptable for this forum.

The SMBX I'm developing is Super Mario Quest. It's an SMBX side scrolling game turned into an RPG. It spans 16 worlds. Anyway, here is a list of what to expect on this game.

- A Mario Bros. game with Mario and Luigi as the players.
- An enormous world map that spans at least 16 worlds.
- A combination of Super Mario All-Stars, Super Mario World, Super Mario RPG and Super Mario 64 elements, plus its own unique graphics and story line.
- It's an RPG side scrolling game. Meaning, it is a 2D side-scroller but with a story line complete with quests and adventures.
- Over 1000 levels to explore (Not literally. I'm just gonna make as much levels as I could).
- High Replay Value is guaranteed due to the presence of hidden Magic Stars and easter egg secrets.
- You can find all the Super Mario All-Star powerups.
- You can ride Yoshi from Super Mario World. He comes in different colors.
- Quests are available. Including level sidequests.
- Unique graphics, music soundtracks and sounds.
- High definition graphics may be employed.
- Difficulty range from very easy to extremely difficult.
- Advance scripts.

Now, I can't always post updates here but for frequent updates, you can get it here: Super Mario Quest Blog

And to prove that I'm not making up stories, here's a preview of the Intro level. I will be posting more updates soon. By the way, I would like to credit Valtteri and his group for some of the pictures.

Here are sample videos of one of the levels. It's nothing much right now but I am planning to add more in the next coming updates.

Hello guys

Hello guys, AL2Meta here. I am author and designer of the SMBX Super Mario Quest project. Here's a sample video from the project:

I like RPG games also, but nowadays, I am more on game developing than playing. I'll be here to hang out with you and at the same time, share some games that I develop. Nice to meet ya all...
