[Musician] Music Producer seeking job on a videogame

I offer my services for any videogame.

These are for now my instrumentals (most of them are already gonna be used in my debut album, and yes I'm a singer as well, there are exceptions of instrumentals that are available to use, those are mentioned below):

Available to use (do NOT use them without permission!!!):
https://soundcloud.com/alexis9000/dont-listen-to-this-you-will-suffer-i-warned-you
https://soundcloud.com/alexis9000/my-first-mix-on-launchpad-app
https://soundcloud.com/alexis9000/and-the-beat-goes-on
https://soundcloud.com/alexis9000/untitled

Not available to use:
All the other instrumentals (still you can speak with me if you want a new one, it'll be my pleasure to do it)

About money...erhmm...is it much if I ask around 5$ per between 5 and 15 songs and/or sounds (depending on the time I have in my real life) or something like that?
I also don't refuse to make SFX.
I make the price that low for one special reason...I'm NOT professional and I only started recently (but people in my country are already telling me I'm something so I came here to see if I'm lucky as well). Did I produced already for my singing? But of course, you can check it out here if you want --> https://soundcloud.com/alexis9000/alex-amarelo-visit-me

My Paypal is alexisvfernandes@live.com.pt and I only accept cash through there, no MB, no Credit Card, nope, sorry, only PayPal.

I'm available quite every day, including weekends (unless I'm on holidays and outside of my country of course, which is gonna happen in August for example).

Well. I already showed you some eventing screenshot. That is all I got for now (doesn't mean I wont have more in the future). And no I cannot give you money because as you should know me and many people of my country (Portugal) are in economical crisis, so you can ask me for everything (even jokes) in this forum, but money?? I'm afraid that's impossible.

I know many friends of mine who would work for free. And if you only work if someone pays you then I question your passion for the game bud. A guy/girl who really loves the game works everytime, and doesnt give a dam about the money, at least that is how I always felt about these games.

[RMVX ACE] Possible game maker needs team BADLY :P

A promise is a promise, here it is:

This is not everything...it is just a little bit of what I can do of eventing and mapping (more eventing, actually, eheh), but well. That what I could show you in about 5 minutes

[RMVX ACE] Possible game maker needs team BADLY :P

Now I think I shall make this double post cause it is important because it goes straight to the point: What is to blow off someone?

[RMVX ACE] Possible game maker needs team BADLY :P

Again not the intenttion (because i thought it applied to me, sometimes it happens to my person in these situations), but if that is what I did. Guess it cant be helped...

[RMVX ACE] Possible game maker needs team BADLY :P

Lol im not blowing off anyone. But if thats what you heared. Well...i dont have nothing else to say...I guess

EDIT: No, I'm not saying that you should join those teams. I'm saying that these are a big list of examples of people trying to recruit the same way you are. And with rare exception it doesn't work.

The question is that you see me have better chances on their teams but I'd rather see me working on a team of mine and making my project.:S Yeah I know its hard for first. But...if I dont take the risk. I know that later I will regret the decision

And if no one volunteers? Will you go it alone and make a great game on your own?

Well. Its a loooong list of people but after that looooong try I will see what I will think. I prefer not to think about it now. But maybe you have a surprise who knows. Lol.

Let me put it to you like this. Look at these links:

These are all "LET'S GET A TEAM AND DO MY GAME IDEA" and such. NONE of these games ever were completed. Most didn't even get gamepages up. Why? Because this isn't how you form a team. It can work, but it's very unlikely.

I've been on a couple of teams before, so maybe I can give you some advice about making/joining one.

Red Nova, Sooz, and I partnered on the game Remnants of Isolation. But that team didn't come together because one of us asked for a team in a thread like this. Instead, it started almost a year back, when I played Red Nova's game Soul Sunder, was impressed with what he had done, and offered to do some mapping help.

From there we got to know each other and what we could do with RPG Maker. We both had a game up on the site and we each supported each other's games. We became friends and found we could bounce ideas off each other easily. Sooz is my best friend so she volunteered to help as well. So we made a team we could trust, and we got to work.

My advice is to make a simple game or two to show off what you can do in RPG Maker. You say you're just an eventing and writing guy, so make a game where those two aspects are on display. It doesn't matter if you use RTP graphics and sound, the important part is to show the world you can make a game on your own and show off your strengths. Then people will be much more willing to work with you, as they can see your skill and dedication first-hand.

If all this sounds complicated and time-consuming, that's because it is, a little. But it's worth it. Trust me.
If it's legal to use Google images on RPG Maker VX Ace games (just to make sure I don't have to call NO designer to work for me) then I'll just stick around with this one for the title, what do you think? --> http://thekarmicpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/victor1558-creative-violin.jpg

P.S: At the moment I'm not at home. It's 15h PM GMT, but around 19 PM GMT or later, I'll be around my PC, and maybe at that time I'll show you something NOT from my game (because it's blank) BUT...well, something random made from me. Since you want it THAT much.
Yes, that's a lovely picture you could use for the title. But there's a bigger point here. I've bolded your last sentence. You are making it sound like you're entitled to have random people stop what they're working on to work on your idea, and that it's a big hassle to prove you can make anything.

If that's really your attitude, then all I can say is, good luck to you and good day. I don't know anyone who would work on a project when the person who started it feels like having to do any amount of work to show the group before recruiting is somehow asking for too much.

These are projects of passion. We do them because we believe in them and are willing to devote lots of time and energy to them. We don't do them because someone posts a thread and acts like having to do a game on their own before they recruit a group is too much to ask for.

Well that wasn't the intenttionn now, sorry.

I will tell you the same thing I tell a lot of others who are new to the community and want to team up with others:

Quite honestly, what is being asked for is a bit much. They are asking for people to put aside their own plans, to commit to a team that they know nothing about and has yet to show anything of substance that makes people want to join.

The amount of people I would work with for a serious game team can be counted on maybe my two hands. One of those people posted in this thread. I know them, I know I can trust them to complete projects and work well with them. I know they won't flake out or cause issues with-in a team. I know that they produce quality work and that together we could create a great project. I've seen what they've created in the past, I've talked to them and gotten to know them personally, know their work ethic and that we can get along. I probably still wouldn't commit to an exclusive continuous team up with most of the people on that list though.

What you're offering isn't enough for people to want to jump on board and take a risk. You'll probably get a lot of newbies wanting to jump in but from the sounds of it you're looking for more than that - actual experienced creators, and a lot of them at that.

Before you lead a team you need to have experience as a game creator - because if someone drops out for whatever reason, it'll be up to you to work with what they left. Cultivate your skills, create a showcase of games that people can say 'oh, yeah, that's the guy who made such and such. s/he has great ideas/skills, I could try to work with them!'.

Make it one small project to see how the team works, don't force a commitment when you're not even sure whether the team will get along, who is more likely to try and take charge, who is more likely to slack off, who keeps deadlines, who does great quality work... etc.

If you want to take the short-cut route - and let me tell you, it's not much of a shortcut, but hey! it's freer than paying someone to work for you - try making smaller games, helping others out with their projects, doing some of the small community contests and learning what you can. You'll get your name out there and if people know you they'll feel better about helping you.

Of course this can backfire quite a bit if you don't have the better connection that getting to know others over a longer period will give you. Of course, just because you are close friends with others doesn't mean that you'll get a finished product out of all of your work. Some people don't like taking orders and like to be in charge, some may disappear for a time and others may just not care as much as you do about the project you're creating or create problems among the team. Sometime things just go wrong and you're left with a project that you can't finish because you don't know how to do whatever the other person was doing.

This is why it's important to cultivate your own skills.

Your skills are your selling point when it comes to creating a team, and the more skills you have (or more skilled you are in one area), the more likely it is that others will take you seriously enough to consider aiding you.

It's not just mapping, spriting or scripting, either. There's music and sound, the other graphical areas (like battlers, faces, resource management and menu design), story/plot/character development/script-writing and gameplay.

Of these the written areas are the least wanted, whilst the graphical and (in the case of XP and VX) script side of things are the most valued. Mapping and sound tend to fall between, depending on the game, though music can sometimes be just as sought after as graphics. This means that you'll find a lot of people who are willing to write the story for you, but not as many that will do the full soundtrack or create original graphics - especially when they have no reason to believe that you will actually release the game, as they don't know you or your track record.

The graphics and scripting/systems are the tangible things that people can see and are usually the first thing a person looks for when they check out a project. It's what gets people excited for a project and actually look at the story. Sometimes people will overlook this if they know the person who is making the game (for example, I would play anything made by Lysander, Kentona, Strangeluv, Legion, etc... because I know that I've enjoyed their previous games before and don't need to look at the graphics to know I'd probably find any others of theirs enjoyable.) Most of the time, though, if someone wants help they will show them something that will draw that person to the project.

It's not enough to say that the story is wild and the character designs are amazing. You have to show them that they want to be a part of the project. Usually this is done with a well-presented topic, filled with pictures of characters and areas, some sprite work and maps, a concise but well worded explanation of the story and characters, perhaps a few tunes or a small trailer so that people can get a taste of the game and decide whether or not they want to be a part of it. Of course, being know helps, but a lot of people will respond well to someone who seems to know what they are doing and what they need.

You need to sell your idea to the public, make connections, prove that you're dedicated to game making in general and your own game in particular and learn how to do things so that if something does fall through with one of your team, you can pick up the pieces so that the rest of the team doesn't just leave.

Sorry you feel that way. But please understand that on the countrary that you think I am 100% convinced that this is going to work and I wanna prove it. If it all goes wrong. Well let it go. At least it wasn't you who you have to blame.

P.S: I hope you will be here between 19/21 GMT :P
