Help! RPG Maker 2000 is showing me a black screen!

I didn't want to revive a dead post if it's been too long but I thought this would be helpful for any future RPG2k users that experience this problem.

When creating a new project, I assume (In all RPG Maker programs) the files in RTP gets copied to the project folder to be ready for use within the RPG Maker editor.

RPG Maker 2000 doesn't really seem to do that. I thought it was a problem with Steam's version so I another copy somewhere else and ended up with the same black screen problem.

My solution is to download the RTP and keep it somewhere that's easily reachable (The steam version already has it if you go to "Browse Local Files" under properties).

Open your Project folder on one window and the RTP folder in another window.
Lastly, copy the contents from the RTP folder into the Project folder.

After restarting RPG Maker 2000, everything should be working as normal again.

Unfortunately, you'll have to do this every time you make a new project. However, that's a small price to pay in my opinion.

I can't believe that there were 89 other blue_blobs on RMN.

I didn't think there'd be so many other ones with that similar names. :O
I just put that together for the sake of quick account creation.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!

My Introduction to this new world

Hello... I am blueblob. It's nice to meet you all.

This is the first time I've ever posted in a forum, so I don't really know what to say. I hope to see a lot of great things in this RMN Community.

I enjoy music; It's a part of my life. Was in a band throughout school and I DJ in my spare time. I also make my own tunes every once in a while. I've always wanted to create games, videos, mods, visual novels (etc) but I feel like I lack the skill and would end up forgetting about it when I actually start the project. :(

I hope I find new games, friends, pointers on making RPG games, and much more.

Hello RMN World!

Umm.. it's my first time ever writing in a forum so I hope this goes alright. I'm not sure what to really say so I'll just wing it.

Hello world! I'm blue_blob90, a lover of games in any genre you can think of. I really like this site because (to me) it feels like everyday people can make extremely well done games. I get inspired by that idea and try to make my own games, but I find it kinda difficult since I hardly know anything about making games.

I really feel like I should be helping out people here in some way. Well, me and a large group of friends upload gameplay videos on youtube (and a couple of other places) to let games 'be heard' (with permission from the game creator, of course). I'd love to help you if that's a problem. I may not be good at making games, drawing models/pics, or writing scripts, but I will try to help anyone in any way I can.

Thanks for reading my post! I hope we can be friends someday :D
