Why am I already planning the sequel to my not even half-finished RM game?

it is the game maker's curse. ideas are more fun than the tedium of implementing them.
The more I get in to game making, the more I notice that this is very true...
If you haven't already planned out the full trilogy and live action movie adaptations before you have done more than open RPG Make and click 'New Project' you have failed horribly at A+++ game making. You should be ashamed!

I'm probably the greatest offender here for doing this, however, I've also been pretty successful at completing them so far. It all comes down to how dedicated you are to completing them. Don't go too far out of scope when implementing things, set targeted deadlines for yourself, you should do fine.
If something doesn't get finished, it was never meant to be. That's how I look at it.

I do this too! I find ideas are fun and you gotta use them as fuel for the work part of game-making, too. I'm glad I find some joy in writing code, level design and art as well though because those parts take the most time :P
Forming ideas like this is often a core process of game making. It can be fun to think of how large the scope of an idea could be, and doing so can help allow you to think of more concepts for said idea. It makes it a lot easier to figure out what you want in the game, or if you could see it being a series, and so on.
It's always good to enjoy world building and story writing. Let your imagination run wild.
