Strengths of Hanging On that differentiate it from most games:

  • A sizable ever-growing stockpile of aesthetically pleasing, project-unique custom graphics

  • A sense of wonder and nostalgia concerning the prospect of exploring a suburban neighbourhood

  • The usage of custom indoor parallaxing to achieve something similar to an vanishing perspective.

  • Custom animations such as the taking of photos, battle counters akin to the Mother series

I hope it turns out really good. Keep up the hard work, char.

Char, if you ever need something to make you feel better about your game, look at jacks magic beans and I dare you to tell me that that is better than what you got. ;)

I get that feeling all the time, too, hell, I was thinking that earlier this week after seeing some just fantastic art. There's so many great artists and designers out there who have made such cool things that are super inspiring... it's super easy to feel dwarfed by it and to be harsh on your own creations.

But, I'd bet there's quite a few people on the site who've seen Hanging On and Prelude and felt the same way. You've done some cool stuff :)

I felt great about my own projects until I saw Hanging On. ^_^

Don't be so hard on yourself, char. Many people would be very happy if they were able to do what you can.

I know how you feel. It's pretty intimidating to see others do the things you're doing. I find that not comparing your games to others helps out a lot for you self esteem.

Focus less on how your game holds up alongside others and more about what YOU want to bring to the table. There is no other Hanging On by charblar anywhere else on the internet. Be proud of that.
