STATUS

I'm glad we have the threads, but (for me anyway) they can get to a point where they're just too much to handle. I dunno what I could really add anyway that someone else hasn't already said.

But it's nice to have another viewpoint? It might be something that someone reads and it helps them, even if they don't post in response. Anyway, of course you just gotta do what's best for you, too :)

Well, I can say I know the feeling, and whats worse, someone whom I had to cut out of my life for "safety reasons" decides to show up and pretty much demonstrate why I had to cut said person out of my life. Then you got other people who make you feel like you cant get a word in. All of that going on here, RMN. Yeah. As always though, I'm around if you wanna talk.

It's been locked now, so until the next one turns up, you can relax a little. Well as relaxed as you can be with all the games you've got on the go, that is.

I stay away from those topics as much as I can, because I know my personal biases rather well.

Yeah, I agree with Craze. There's always a lot of yelling but rarely does anything constructive happen. Personally, the drama and unfortunate attitudes some people display are enough to make me depressed and a little bit upset, so I had forbidden myself from looking at the topic anyway. I'm glad to see it's gotten locked.

It would be nice to have a safe space to talk about subjects like this without it devolving into pointless shouting matches, but I guess that's just not possible right now. -_-

Yeah, I figured out a while back that trying to cover every base doesn't work, so I try to stick to like two paragraphs at most. And just skim textwalls sometimes, because usually there's not much to merit the effort.

I can't accept that line of reasoning.

You can only write what you know. If you don't know, then learn. Writing in depth about a subject requires more than a little research, and discussions with people at the heart of these issues are invaluable.

The former I agree is too dismissive; the latter is just common sense. If you want to get into more than the 101 "hey maybe let's not treat transpeople like trash and possibly let a few be main characters," you need to track down some less mainstream spaces. (Just like how you're probably not going to find a lot of helpful RPGMaker programming tips on a site dedicated to makeup.)
