Same can be asked of selfies taken through reflection either from mirrors, glasses or any other reflective surface ... Also, do the ones taken via the remote button for DSLRs count as well?

Then it'll be a pure unadulterated selfie for sure. Inanimate objects aren't self aware nor have a say in the matter. We don't ask their permission, we simply buy and exploit them for our vanity and consumption. Did it ever occur to you that everytime you turn on a kettle, you're boiling it's insides for hot coco and crushed tea leaves? No? Thought so =o=
