Did you guys heard about RPG Maker games being funded in KickStarter? Hilarious and sad at the same time. We could all be rich by now!

Yeah, this is pretty old news
Still... hard to believe someone has the guts to ask for money. Who asks 300$ to create a simple side quest? Oh, well!
There are a few good ones on there, though. Profit Motive, for example, is a pretty decent game made in RM. And Rainbow Nightmare, among others.
These are some pretty horrid examples of how KickStarter is being used and mostly just a case of 'give me money for no real reason.' Like, if you're going to be trying to do this, shouldn't you at least be able to justify asking for backing? Like custom graphics, custom music, etc. And have them before you ask for backing? At least the first one is rather outright blatant in saying most of the money is going to supporting the online features (and then their video goes on to contradict that).

I see these as examples of how KickStarter can be abused; but for a game that actually has some real effort behind it, I can see some purpose there.
I'd totally be rich right now if I didn't have this danged integrity!

Integrity doesn't buy you meals at the fanciest restaurants!
Let's fund a game where the main character is Ralph from RPG Maker VX. :D Lool, it's sad and funny at the same time. Anyway, I agree with the fact that a good game in RPG Maker should and could be funded in Kickstarter. To help the creator buy a copy of the original if he is using trial, or even if he needs some money to hire artists or pay commercial resources to use in his game. That's fine! But in a game full of RTP and with bad storyline and horrible mapping... that's stealing big time. No No.

And the first guy, from Austins Adventure, even state it's their first RPG game? Well, guess not everybody understands the logic and purpose of this engine.
That guy is from Chesapeake, VA. Which at first glace I read as Cheapskate xD

That second game is pretty much exactly the kind of game I'm talking about being awesome for KickStarter. They've got custom graphics and they've got custom music. In fact, they go on to say that the final version of the game won't be in RPG Maker. I'm actually now interested in seeing the final product on this.
Yeah... the graphics they use don't look at all familiar, though. /sarcasm

I'd prefer honest full-RTP games than ones that are copying graphical styles almost identically.
Those sprites are nice...but what do those tiles remind me of? Seiken Densetsu 3? o-o (That 2nd screenie also has a butt load of mapping errors..)

Anyway, that Austin's Adventure or w/e was cancelled! (Lol, like that wasn't coming...really, did anyone else see those maps? I'm not one to critique on poor mapping but, they looked like something my nephew could've made with no design knowledge at all~ Not to mention the lacking grammar as well, and horrid amount of asking cash for pretty much nothing going to the backers.) :3
