author=slashphoenixYes! RPG Maker VX Ace... I am horrid with scripts! I don't know where to put anything... I have done other projects with scripts and had to delete them cause of an error... I just don't wanna mess this one up... A real time battle system that plays like Legend of Zelda!
Do you have a specific engine or program in mind - like a particular version of RPG Maker?
I did try a little something, but...
Anyway, more serious post, I don't know how much it would help, but you might have a look see at this game. Or, if your avatar is indicative of anything, maybe this engine?

You need to know how to use variables and conditional branches. You need to understand how to track and make use of coordinates, that get stored in variables and used with conditional branches. And you need to understand how events function; parallel process vs autostart, when to put on a map vs when to put in a common event, how to use event pages.
For the most part it would be the same no matter what RPGmaker brand engine you use, so if you find a tutorial on how to make an ABS system(is what it's called, a zelda-like game) and it's for RPGmaker 2003 you can probably use it for Ace.
I have a zelda game in 2k3, if that's what you want to make then you can open it up to see how I did things. It's far from basic though. There are others, download them and open them up in the editor to see first hand what it takes. Start small with tutorials and figure out how to do small things like move a rock to a tile to activate a switch using variable coordinates. I don't know how knowledgeable you are and I doubt anybody has the time to sit down and teach you everything involved. It can be done without scripts and making a good ABS in an RPGmaker is a hard thing to do even with years of experience.
