Nothing more sad than when you're practically done with P4 but you maxed out all but one S.Link. :*(

I can never get S.links done right in either P3 or P4.
It is really hard without a guide. (read: near impossible)
You did well! And deserve a hug. Persona 4 ftw
@Kylaila
I actually did use a spoiler-free guide for my first playthrough...! But for some reason, they won't level up even though I've equipped the arcana of that Persona?? o.o

Oh well, I thought there would be something cool to see if I max my S.Link just like in P3, but I guess it was different in P4. Welp.
I'm happy that they made it possible to do, but the strategy for it almost makes it impossible to take your time and enjoy the weird (and often useless) stuff Inaba has tbh? I can see the appeal for completionists, but I like exploring too much to give that up.

that said, I will never play through Persona 4 without at least maxing out Nanako and Dojima's respective social links

(Yosuke's social link gets ignored because he's trash and I can't believe the game expects me to want to hang out with him)

(except you get gameplay bonuses for it even when he's not in your partyyyyy ugh)
I assumed that maxing the links in P4 would make them have a "special screentime" in your last boss battle just as P3 did but I was wrong soooo, it didn't matter. Some of the "trophies" were okay, like the more casual "Saved ___!" or "Maxed one S.Link!", but some of the more hardcore, like gathering all Personas in the compendium and stuffs are just ridiculous. I'm not really a huge dungeon crawler fan myself so I wouldn't go through the trouble of doing the dungeons again for the sake of the trophies.

LOL Chie was one of the s.links from school that I didn't want to touch, but seeing as her and the rest of the s.links from school are fairly easy to max due to events, I didn't mind it much. I didn't like the s.links through the jobs though and thought that Tower dude was annoying at first bah.

If I could play as a girl from my New game+, it might give me more incentive to replay the game (I was... um, lvl 6 or 7 with Kanji? and didn't read the letter from Adachi.) I played P4 Golden actually, so maybe the additional S.Link from Marie made the schedule a bit tight?
iirc P4G is a little bit longer to make up for that? the bonus content for maxing out Marie's social link is super cool, though, and I was really angry at myself for missing it the first time

Marie is really cool in general? I get that some people think she's a little too 'original character', but she has a cool hat and a really cool bit in the ending and that's all I really need

I haven't had the guts to max out Adachi's, though, he's like a Yosuke who's had an extra eight or nine years to feel sorry for himself + turn into a bigger asshole

e: HOLY SHIT YES having a girl-MC option would be wonderful, I hate all the 'well as a protagonist you're dull as dishwater but most female characters swoon over you anyway because we know our demographic' writing that comes with playing a dude in an atlus game
Would be cool.
I did enjoy Yosuke's s.link, even if just for the fact that he's a clown, show-off hiding his weaknesses in a way I can understand well, hehe. More idiot than anything else, but found him funny (except the kanji parts, naturally)

As for Compendium .. that'd be more my thing, haha, I usually end up with 90% the first playthrough (even with massive ones like SMT IV), but saved the later playthroughts + completions with later playthroughs. Not bothered to do it right away.
