My son has the most important decision of his life coming up: which type of LEGO does he collect?

City, The LEGO Movie, and the Hobbit sets will always be the best. The LEGO Movie got me back into collecting the stuff. Thankfully I don't have much room for it at the moment so my wallet is relatively safe.
The answer is: all of the LEGOs.
Though I have none of the LEGOs personally, I'm sure babby would appreciate all of them~

You could build anything with the originals. The big bucket of random bricks is always a good first choice.

Sadly I don't think they do just random bricks anymore, man. My friend (who is an absolute fanatic about LEGO) has been looking for them in the malls around the area, but all the tubs you can buy now are themed, about cars or girly stuff or whatnot.
Although they do make a tub of "easy builds" made for younger kids, which may appeal to Kentona's current situation.
Castles are totally cool and you don't need to worry about flying a lego spaceship and dropping and losing half the essential pieces because castles just sit around and look cool until you decide to make a castle++.
guess what lego I collected as a kid!

I always had the most fun with space LEGO. Helps that my brother collected a ton of lego before I was old enough to play with it (so we had a TON of 1980-something space themed lego! Spaceship! Spaceship! Spaceship! Spaceship!) Then I got some Magnetron and Blacktron lego, and some Space Police lego. Fun times!
I also had a bit of Castle lego and a Viking ship. They were pretty fun too.

Man, I miss Lego products. We have none in the house (even with kids coming around all the time. Say what?! I know! :< ) but we used to have a bunch of them and just dick around making stuff. The last lot was one of those multi-pack ones where you could create a bunch of different things (it came with a book filled with instructions on how to make cars, planes, houses, robots, etc) that my brother got one Christmas. Fun times...
I'd say the more is merrier so if you can get a large themed pack that enables several different builds, that might be a good idea. And with wheels. Wheels are always fun~ ^.^

Right here...
There are three buckets to choose from, starting at 29.99. I don't know about where anyone else is, but they have them in Toys R' Us in Miami. I'm pretty sure if you've got a Toys R' Us near you and they don't have it, you can just go to customer service and they can order it.
As popular as Lego is, do you really think they'd stop selling this?

Reading this status just brings back so many memories…
I still have most of the Lego that we’ve collected throughout the years. It’s in a big tupperware box just in my closet along with some of my old jerseys, game systems and other doohickies from the past. I should really take all of it out one day and play with it again, or at least keep it until I have kids of my own someday.
I asked my dad about this question earlier, and he apparently started us off by buying some of those little lego kit sets in the smaller boxes, like a car, or a small part of the major set and worked our way up from there. I believe our first major Lego set was the fire department, followed by the police station and the castle. I always loved the castle with the pit below where you could build a trap door below it and send all those Legomen’s to their DOOM!
I’m still glad to see that in this day and age that Lego is still around and still flourishing. Gotta keep thoseSwedes Danes in business somehow! :D
