Monster World RPG 2009 - New release after 1 year

post=115421
Just to let you know that this would be better served as a gamepage. It's not that this is a bad game, just that game advertisements aren't allowed on RMN.

You are right, my bad.
I didn't read carefully the line "don't post about your game here".

It is that I remember I posted advertisemente on this forum last year so I posted in the first section of the forum I thinked to be the right one.

Hey that's sweet man. I might give it a shot?
Since you forgot to I will edit your original post to put the game link at the beginning. I was confused when I clicked here. I hope you don't mind me hijacking your post, but you changed the topic title without like changing the top post and it is confusing.
Also, remember that RMN offers free game hosting that is probably way better than Geocities. We have stat tracking etc and I really recommend you use an RMN link for your primary download. Rapidshare and all those sites really suck and make you wait, and with an RMN link there is no waiting and the download is faster and you get stat tracking. It is really the best thing ever.

You did right, thanks.
I will also consider about the hosting service, thanks for the advice.
Now I'm a little dizzed cause I'm promoting the game literally everywhere and plus I have other things of mine to do.
Next week I will probably be free enough to "do something".
For now I hope all of you will enjoy the game.

As soon as I can, when I will be done with my work & study duties, I will create a new thread for this demo in order to avoid people from confusing it with the old "mini-games only" demo.

[DEMO] Monster World RPG - THE GAME IS READY ! ! !

Hello guys.

Be prepared: on December 6 the real thing will be available for download with at least 15 hours of playing (and if you consider that in this new release less than 2/6 of the story will be told, the final release will be at least 100 hours).

This time it isn't a minigame compilation but a full playable j-rpg videogame.

I will post the new thread about it in the section this forum dedicate to complete project or project bigger than short demos.

Bye!

01/11/2008 UPDATES

Hello everyone,
First of all: thanks for your support through all this period.

Now the news:
- the new release will be ready in December (around the 15);
- this means that this one will be probably the last major update for this demo;
- if this forum hosts any kind of gaming developing contest I would like to join if I will be able to release the game before the expiry date;
- important: when I will release the new game I will open a new thread and stop posting here (to avoid confusion to new readers).

Last: some screenshots of the last levels we added.

See you soon guys, even if I will open a new thread when the new release will be ready, please continue posting here until then, because I always read your comments and questions.
Bye!

That is BADASS. I wish someone would do something like that for one of my games...

You should join DeviantArt then!

UPDATES:

One thing that I hate of rpgmaker games are the charasets: thery are to small and so the characters looks too much unexpressive.
So I used the characters slots at their limits and sometimes for bigger characters I used more than a slot. Look this image and compare to the left a common rtp from rpgmaker and the ones I create for my game.

In rpg usually you got experience point or buy equipement in order to increase your party stats. This can be entertaining at the beginning, but later it becomes repetitive.
For this reaseon, even if I kept the experience and equipment system, I decided to put in the game a way to customize your hero to give him different skills and map abilities in order to reach different zones (like castlevania or metroid).

Another weak points of rpgmaker videogames is that being them "free games" there's no manual or other things. Plus they lacks menu that usually are present in professional games. MWRPG has an online guide.

Last, a common rpg game engine will become rapidly repetitive and unappealing.
Due to this MWRPG has many platform elements and minigames.

Last:
- I preferred to create small maps and dungeons in order for the players to not have to travel hours and hours to reach the boss rooms;
- in order to advance in the game is more important to find secrets and upgrade items more than levelling up: in this way you have not to waste an entire day in fighting monsters.

Hello guys,
from now on, due to my study & work duties, I won't be able to reply to your comments daily: I will do it weekly, on sundays.

I ask you one thing: before posting a question, be sure I haven't already answered to it in this thread or in the FAQs section of my website.
I won't reply to questions wich I have already answered by thoose two methods.

Did you mix'nmatch the game rips? The perspective of several tiles is off; Some are shown as if you had the top-bird's eye view perspective and others are if you were looking at them from the ground. Look at the structure in the first and last screenshot for example. Or am I just crazy?

Eh, what can I say, sadly when Shigeru Myamoto, Keiji Inafune, Hideo Kojima and Yuji Naka left my team all togheter, the quality of my game dropped drastically . . .

Just kidding ;)
Graphics were ripped by platform games.
It's evident for everyone that prospectives are a little off, but in the end this isn't a big problem.
This makes the game look like a a pop-up book, helping in giving it a fable-esque atmosphere (try to think at paper mario for example).
