So here's my situation. I was working on a game on RM 2k3. Using only the default BGMs, I set map BGMs through map properties, ran test plays, and they played fine. I did this several times, and there was no problem at all with the sound.

I then downloaded and installed RMVX to check out some of its features. After this, I resumed work on my RM 2k3 game, and when I hit test play, the BGM was no longer playing (even in maps in which they played fine previously). I did not touch the music resources at all prior to this incident, and there are no game events that do anything to the BGM.

But it's not just those two, as almost all the BGM is not playing. There are, however, certain BGMs that can still play, such as "se-ocean". I have tried playing the BGM midis through Windows Media Player, and they play fine. I have also tried replacing the RTP folder with a fresh RTP folder, but it still does not work. I have tried uninstalling RMVX, uninstalling and reinstalling RM2k3, but it is still not working right.

Has anyone encountered this problem before? Does anyone have an idea what is wrong? Do I need to switch to RMVX? Am I just making a silly mistake?

P.S. I find the lack of a search function on this forum disturbing. Or am I just not looking in the right places..?
