Hey MK2, just played through this and really enjoyed it. It's a very simple, clean, and effective game. Not very ambitious, but at the same time that's sort of the point; and then behind the surface story there's this strong sense of melancholy and the relationship with Valeran's father. Thanks for a nice 15 minutes!

Thanks! As a former fan of anime, I always appreciated how strongly a sense of melancholy pervaded those works (particularly ones like Wolf's Rain, Cowboy Bebop...). I tried to inject that into this story in the form of Valeran's struggle.

Can't play. it says: unable to find Graphics/windowskins/001-Blue01.

The game requires what is called, "RTP," to play. The RTP is a collection of graphics, music files, etc. that come with the RPG Maker program I used to make the game. You can download the RTP from the link below. Make sure to select and download the RTP for the program, "RPG Maker XP."

Atm I am testing several RPG Maker games each week to decide if my own focus will be on XP or Ace. Dragon Slayer made me want to just start developing, because it shows what can be achieved with a little time and lots of dedication.

Well made, review&rating is done.

Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it. It was a very fulfilling project for me, and I'm glad that others have felt it was worth the investment.

Carvonica and Emirpoen: Just got to read your reviews - thanks again for writing them (and, of course, the scores!). I will comment on both individually tomorrow night. I'm happy to see that my design goals were met, and that those goals resulted in an enjoyable experience for you both.

Dragon Slayer

Thanks very much Emirpoen! Hopefully they'll get posted soon.

Thank you, I'm very glad you liked it!

Dragon Slayer

Thanks! I look forward to reading it.

Well, rather than a sequel, if I did revisit this particular story and world I would expand on the game that you will be playing. However, given how long it took to make this (not in man-hours, but the time it took from the day I decided to work on it to the day I completed it), it would be a very serious project. Particularly because I would want to make it a full-fledged custom project (new tilesets, charsets, battle system, etc.), instead of the RTP-based game it is now. I'll expand a bit more on what I just said after the download goes up.

Dragon Slayer

I put the two files (medieval town and interior) I have in my locker. Unfortunately I couldn't find the world map tileset he made on my computer.

And thank you for the review offer. I hope it's an enjoyable ten minutes of play for you.

I downloaded the tileset a while back, probably six months ago. I had to register to download them from RPG Palace, but that was under the old design for the website. I'm not sure how far along they are in this migration move to Drupal, maybe a few bugs are still left to work out? The navigation is definitely a step backwards from their old site.
