I think people like PP just because it's what they're used to/already signed up to.

Then I assume paypal has worked very well for most people? No cases of unpaid work or undelivered work? Paypal would be great, because Upwork will charge an extra 10% fee for us.

Please post your email here. It would be a big help for sending auditions. Also, are you against paypal?

Yes you're right, I updated the post to include our email. As for paypal, we're not against it in the slightest. We pay our outsourcing company through paypal. I'm just too lazy to write contracts, and we've had disputes in the past that we want to avoid. Are people generally more comfortable with paypal than stuff like Upwork?

It would be useful to know what kind of style you're looking for in terms of music, like, some links to some music you liked or something, so people can have a general idea of what to aim for.

Like, i'm pretty sure my style isn't what you're looking for, based on the vague description you provided.

I included a doc for download at the end of the post that had more details. The post will be too long if I wrote down everything. Please take a look if you're interested.

Positions filled! Thanks everyone for your interest!

Hello! Ninegate Games is looking to put the final touches on our demo release for our first commercial iPad game. This job posting is for musicians and voice actors only, but we welcome all interested parties to contact us with your skill set as we are also looking to expand the core development and creative team soon.

The project has been in development for a few month using Unity2D. We have contracted a total of 3 freelance artists and 1 art outsourcing company, so rest assured compensation is competitive.

About the game:
Ninegate: The Lost Wish is a linear 2D RPG developed with Unity. It is the first in a series of games that explore the story of Lain, a 10-year-old boy who becomes trapped in his dream with no memory of what happened before. The focus of the game is to find scraps of Lain’s old memories to piece together a way out of the dream, but the task proves difficult when strange robot-like creatures appear and attack him on sight. Moreover, it appears that Lain isn’t the only one stuck in his dream! Something had caused all the dream worlds to converge and now no one can get out. Lain must find truth quickly before his body and thousands of others fall into a permanent coma, and the only clue he has to work with is that two others are also wearing his exact same scarf.

The full complete game features 4 playable characters, various mobs and bosses with their own stories, cryptic wisdom in the form of two dragon siblings who try to speak in rhymes but fail hilariously, and a sarcastic butterfly spirit.

Unique features:
Let’s be honest. Nothing that I've shown you is so new and creative. What makes this game unique is that it is really an educational game. Specifically, it teaches skills and reasoning for the four basic arithmetic operations.

If you're turned off by “education” and “math”, chances are you're thinking of some of the other educational games you've seen. Rest assured that this game is not a lame story about using the power of math to triumph over evil. A better comparison would be the game “999” if you're familiar with it, only we take the time to teach each “puzzle” and the skills acquired in this game have lots of practical use.

Who we are and why we're doing this:
My name is Vicki and I've been a huge fan of RPGs and anime for as long as I can remember. You can read more about me and my cofounder Gloria in the attached document, but the important things are that we’re both computer engineers and that this is our first game. I'll admit sometimes I have no idea what I'm doing. Our first attempt at a demo was a disaster. But we've learned from building the game and from the artists we work with, and I look forward to learning more from you.

What we’re looking for:
Music: someone to work with us to design and execute several tracks (~10 tracks) for the demo. The track list will be determined by you with help from our game concept, scripts, and screenshots. Compensation varies based on music length and number of instruments used. We are looking for music that is both lighthearted enough for young children (this is important!) but also convey a sense of mystery and excitement. See more details in the attached document.

Voice actors: looking to fill the voices for Lain (10-year-old boy), Nila (10-year-old girl), 1 rhyming dragon brother (500+ year old male dragon?), and 1 robot boss (male). See the attached document for more details about the characters and their lines.

Others: if you’re passionate about games and interested in our vision, feel free to reach out and I would love to get to know you. Rather than a commission or employee, we’re looking for friends to build games together. Refer to the attached document to see more about our vision, style, and whether we’d get along.
