[RMMV] [Script Request] Lighting and tints

Afternoon,

I'm very interested in adding lighting and tint effects to my maps to simulate, for example, sunsets.

There was an excellent tutorial for doing so by Luchi-chan but it used plugins created for VX-Ace which I have been assured will not work in MV.

I was wondering if there are any equivalents for MV?

Thank you for your time.

New Developer Mapping Help Thread

Wow, thank you very much for the information Liberty. I've taken it into consideration and decided to implement a few of them.

I now think I have a finished map. I know there are probably more straight lines than is best for a mountain map but as I made the outline before I knew all this I don't think I can change it any more without having to change the entire layout of the map. I am just not that good of a designer yet.

Thank you very much Liberty!

I've taken your advice and broken up some of the straight lines. I would like to know if there is a best practice for breaking up straight lines in cliffs at the back. I've done some experimenting but it always looks a little strange. Also, do waterfalls and such count as breaking straight lines?

Aside from that, I think I'm fairly satisfied.

Next, I intend to work on a Port Town. Any advice?

Also, any recommendations for a ship tileset so that i may place it at the docks?

Okay, so I've been working on a mountain map. I was told to add some filler so I've done my best to add some decoration whilst ensuring the placement of objects still makes logical sense within my map.

Is there a point where things can get too cluttered?

[RMMV] Map Item & Furniture distribution

Thank you for your assistance Dragnfly. I believe you are talking about the cliff on the right when you are referring to the 4 high cliff. I did move that one back one row and you are right. It does look better.

I do agree with Kory though. That formation on the left looked strange to me as soon as I made it. I don't believe natural cliffs should be symmetrical which is why I've placed some nooks and curves in the front of my cliffs. I'm experimenting with doing the same to the back but it wasn't working out perfectly.

Oh! I didn't realise they existed.

Thank you very much Liberty.

[RMMV] Map Item & Furniture distribution

Afternoon,

This is my first exterior map and I've finally gotten to a place where I'm satisfied with it. I was wondering if people have personal strategies for the distribution of misc items like trees etc. I've placed things fairly randomly just to fill space while making sure the environment still makes a kind of sense (i.e. tree stump on road because there is no point cutting down trees which aren't being an inconvenience to travellers.

But I don't think this is the best way to do things. What is your strategy?

I also wouldn't mind any feedback on the map overall. I'm still a beginner.

Thank you for your time.

[RMMV] How can I better add depth to mountain maps?

Thank you very much for your assistance.

I think I've gotten a lot better but I'm still not satisfied. I hear I can use shift-clicking to greatly improve mountainous areas. Could you give me an example of how that may help?

By the way, which tileset is that?

[RMMV] How can I better add depth to mountain maps?

That is actually rather excellent. I still doubt my capacity to reach that level of skill.

The setting is actually a mountain pass. It's travelled rather often by merchants and caravans. The path is not between any major cities so the road isn't paved but the vegetation has been worn away.

Is that enough?
