Suggestion: new "flavor" tags Anime, Coming of Age, Children's, Drama, Romance

Oh. I did think it was the latter, so yeah that might help

What can be done to make RMMZ have overwhelming positive reviews?

What do you mean with no GPU support? I find that remark interesting, since from reading it I was under the impression that MZ's corescript does almost everything in pixie.js sprites and/or canvases, which usually are GPU accelerated. After all, it does require WebGL now to even run a game.

Also I have to say find MZ's solution for the widescreen problem actually quite elegant: IMHO a 4:3-style centered floating UI looks pretty nice on a widescreen game map. But maybe that's just me. (Although yes, the top-right menu button placement when outside of all menus wandering the map is hideous and weird, obviously it should be in the outer right corner and not somewhere half in the middle.)

For what it's worth, while I also definitely agree on the nearest neighbor, that one isn't too hard to patch if you really want to. But when I tried it text rendering looked surprisingly hideous, which led me to conclude maybe it's not actually that useful for an RPG, at least not on the UI parts.

I like your list, will those be available soon?

Nevertheless, I think 1. the tags I suggested might still be worth adding other than "Anime". Romance in particular should really be added, that doesn't seem to be covered by anything in your list. E.g. for my game I'm working on multiple romance subplots but it'll not be primarily, or even in notable part, a Dating Sim. Also, "Adult" in particular makes me think in addition to "Children's", also "Young Adult" could be a useful flavor - unless this is meant as "Sexual Content" and/or a hard "18+ only" (rather than just general target audience), in which case I'd suggest using these instead. I think Japanese would likely a better match than "Anime", so I retract that one tag suggestion of mine.

And based on your list, 2. maybe "Touchscreen Friendly" would go better separately into a "Technical Features" list, where you could generally put things like: Touchscreen Friendly, Mouse Support, Widescreen Support, Mobile Release Available, etc. Although I feel like maybe those should just be omitted and mentioned in text...? Not sure. But mouse support in particular (or lack thereof) would be useful for RPG Maker games.

I would also suggest 3. "Art" and "Totally Rad" seem kinda vague and meaningless, and worth leaving away. ("Adorable" seems useful though) I also find "Classic" not very intuitive, maybe something else like "Old Game" would be more obvious?

And if you want add in more regarding 4. Gameplay detail features, I have more suggestions for these: Open World, Overworld, Hub-based, Fast Travel, Ingame Map, Switchable Party Members, Multiple Endings, Checkpoint-Based Saves, Tactical Positional Battles, No Combat, Party Based, Solo Protagonist.

Also, it might be worth bumping up the tag limit to around 10-15 if a notable bunch of those is added.

This was already sort-of rejected in the chat, but I figured if there is the smallest chance this is ever added then it'll be by leaving it in a place like here for reference if anybody ever wants to take a shot at it.

I suggest to consider adding the following new game "Flavor" tags:

- Anime (for specifically non-Western style games, beyond RTP visuals)
- Coming of Age (for games with stories about teenagers growing up)
- Children's (for games specifically made for/about children)
- Drama (for games around drama plots, I feel like dark is different and hints more at gothic/gore/gritty vibe rather than the usual drama genre)
- Romance (for games with romance prominently in them in some form)

[RMMZ] [Playtester Request] custom gfx game/high fantasy seeking bored testers

Hi!

So, I like to get feedback early but there isn't really that much of playtime for my game yet. Consequently, not much sense in doing a wider test release for kind of a playtest crowd. What I am hoping to find though is somebody finding it interesting enough/bored enough to be curious to dabble into my unfinished project multiple times, as it grows with retained/brought along save game etc, and give me early feedback along as the story grows.

If you want to playtest this, send me a message. (unpaid I'm afraid, while I'm hoping for a commercial release one day who knows if that'll work out.)

Here's how it looks like, it's an MZ game:

Here is possibly relevant stuff™:
  • Plot heavy, and a somewhat serious take on a High Fantasy/Contemporary Fantasy/Young Adult mix of a setting (rather than the not that uncommon self-referential, not very serious writing approach that appears to be somewhat common for many RPG Maker games, where consistent characters and pacing can be more of an afterthought. which is fair I guess if that's not the main focus of the experience)
  • Mostly standard gameplay with regular RMMZ battle system but with UI touch-ups
  • Custom gfx and music, so for better and for worse it'll look and sound a bit different to some more RTP-reliant projects
  • Mostly cusotm plugins, so in overall the underlying codescript code shouldn't be in a too terribly unstable hodgepodge of random incompatible things, but in a hopefully mostly consistent state
  • I'm interested in plot, GFX, music, and whatever-you-can-think-of-feedback. However, you should hopefully actually like some parts about the game instead of trying to convince me into an entirely different vision, so if you don't head into this thinking you need or want to provide the deepest, detailed critique on earth that's probably good. I just want a fresh, more neutral take on thing as I add stuff in, possibly at a point where I can still change major plot lines easier than later.
  • Right now expect a very short gameplay time. This really is for early feedback interested testers only
