jRPG Essentials
author=Cap_HWhat do you think are games, which should everyone who works with RM and has an intention to make a RPG know and play? Cuz I personally played very few famous jRPGs.
My personal favorites are Ys series and probably Zelda (although I never played it properly). So, I'm more inclined to action oriented stuff and find it easier to get into. Also it's usually light on dialogues, which is good. On the other hand they're not traditional jRPGs and I hear people talking about Chrono Trigger and Xenogears all the time.
So would you go with Final Fantasy IV and Dragon Quest or do you have more series to include?
Chrono Trigger is excellent. Amazing art design, story, character development, music, gameplay, everything really. I can't really find fault with that game. I haven't really played Xenogears so I don't have an opinion on that.
I don't know if you've tried any of the Megami Tensei or Persona games, but you probably should, they're really great well-known RPGs and you're really missing out if you pass them over.
Also, have you tried Illusion of Gaia? You say you're into action-oriented stuff, that game is just like Zelda and Ys so it would probably be right up your alley.
A lot of you seem to becoming disillisioned with RMN; I need to get to work on making better illusions
No kidding though. As somebody who's lurked from the outside, I've seen people, very recently, presumably long-time members, just throw fits and leave for seemingly no reason at all, taking a giant dump all over the community and their peers in the process. I guess some people just don't mesh well with others?
Whatever the case, it leaves an ugly stain on the site for outsiders/longtime lurkers who are thinking about joining. They're casually scrolling through games and all the sudden there's a bunch of drama in their face. I mean, who needs that?
I just hope that it's not a trend moving forward into this new year.

Why do you make RM games?
RPG Maker is a heck of a lot easier to use than other game development software.
For someone like me, with no skill or patience for programming, it's nice to mess around with.
Also, yeah, it's pretty nostalgic. I used to like old-school RPGs but kind of grew out of them. Now I'm getting back into them, specifically into Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest.
