Like Legionwood? Check out the sequel! http://rpgmaker.net/games/3811/

In production since 2007, Legionwood: Tale of the Two Swords is an epic length traditional role playing game created in RPG Maker VX which was completed in late 2010.

Featuring accessible, familiar gameplay reminscent of the early Final Fantasy titles, Legionwood offers you a 20+ hour long quest set in a massive fantasy world filled with challenging enemies, involving quests and tons of character customisation options with the in depth AP Character System.

The world has been at peace since the Great War ended 1000 years ago. Now, an ancient antagonist is ready to set in motion a plan that has been in the making for centuries. Take control of Lann Northshire, an ordinary peasant who is unwillingly thrown into a conflict that will soon engulf the entire world. The fate of Legionwood hangs in the balance. Will you be able to restore peace to the land? With a thrilling story of love, revenge, war and peace, Legionwood is an adventure that you won't want to pass up!

Legionwood: Mysteries of Dynastland DLC now available!

Wow, talk about not meeting deadlines, right? Some of you might remember that I annouced a Legionwood expansion pack, way back in late 2010. Although it ultimately ended up being cancelled due to hard drive failure, I managed to recover some of its assets a few months ago and, rather than doing the logical lazy thing and recycling them for Legionwood 2, I decided to piece them together and release the resulting mess.

So then, this is the Legionwood expansion I promised all those years ago but never actually delivered? Well, not really. But it's still a pretty cool addition to the Legionwood world.

Legionwood: Mysteries of Dynastland is an expansion pack/DLC for Legionwood: Tale of the Two Swords. Featuring a huge new story dungeon set in the midst of the game's chaotic fourth act, as well as a considerable number of all new optional endgame quests, a revised final dungeon and over a dozen new Techs to learn, it expands the original game's playtime by at least three hours and adds several long awaited features to game, including a graphical world map and quest journal.

The main addition in Mysteries of Dynastland is the titular Dynastland dungeon, which takes place between the Sealed Library and Lost City Crebt areas in Chapter 4. This sprawling dungeon crawl is filled with new enemies, puzzles and challenges to test your skills against, and also reveals the never-before-seen backstory of Zanthus and his long lost homeland as your party searches for the mythical Purity Crystal, an ancient Precursor artifact rumoured to be able to manipulate time itself.

Other notable additions to the game include 12 brand new Techs, including unique Techs exclusive to certain characters, a new set of powerful Dynastland equipment, a late-game "scavenger hunt" quest that will take you to the furthest corners of the world, a complete overhaul and rebalancing of all late game content and an expanded final dungeon with a new, harder version of Castoth to fight -- in both the normal and "true" varieties. Overall, it pretty much turns the final act of Legionwood into a completely new game, which was one of my main goals as I was always rather unhappy with how rushed that part of the game turned out.

Anyway, if you're itching for some new adventures, you can grab the DLC here. Simply point the installer to your Legionwood directory and extract, overwriting files when prompted. In order to experience the new content at the appropriate difficulty level, I recommend either starting a new game or loading a game that was saved before the Sealed Library, though most of the new content except for the Quest Journal can still be accessed otherwise.

Check out these screenshots to see some of the new locations in the game:

And with that, I'm off to work on Legionwood 2 again. Happy adventuring! :)

good game, I really enjoy it. waiting for the sequel :)
where I should going after I get sword of lore at makir ? please help
You need to go back to your ship and sail along the eastern coast of the main continent until you find Gaia's Cavern :)
You should send this to nintendo, this really has potential.
Actually, I personally think the sequel is MUCH better.
hello,

i've made a mac port for this game
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SIIRnbtbiTU
however if you, the creator, want it removed just let me know

thanks
No, actually I'm impressed. I get emails from Mac players wishing to give the game a try all the time! Do you mind if I host a link on the official website?
the tome keeper is killing my characters even though their hp is full. i read it somewhere he can't kill you unless your hp is below 50%. what am i doing wrong?
It's quite possible he's glitching out. His AI is based on events and variables, so there's always a chance that you're either healing too late (or too early) and the game has already turned on the switch for his Erasure move.

The switch isn't meant to turn on until a character's HP is at least at 50%, but to avoid the AI bugging out like that, it's probably best to try and remain above at least 75% at all times.
I tried that and it worked! Thanks so much :)
I find it's best in that battle to just have a party member entirely dedicated to healing. So long as you're near full health, the AI won't turn the switch on (and there's no chance of it getting stuck).

almost 26k downloads!?
this seems to be the most dled rpg maker game ive seen by far!
it must me good then? o.o

but if it was as long as bloodstone id end up disliking it
i spent a lot of hours between training and advancing the story which in that case was pretty dull

whats your favorite thing about this game if any1 would share?

You the practice of self-promotion

If I remember correctly I liked the characters overall, there is an interesting mythology involved and you can assign points on stats upon level up for the different characters.
@shayoko: I'm not quite sure if it's as long as Bloodstone, but the average playtime is around 15 hours. There's also a DLC/expansion pack coming soon that increases it by another couple of hours and adds some new story quests and Techs to learn.

i think id like it or not depending on how that tech system is built as ive seen some pretty bad ones
bloodstone had these shops that sell stat ups which were expensive
the thing about that is that their was no limit to how many a character could use
so if you had the money you could make any characters stats 9999
which i rather disliked but the amount of money needed to do that for just 1 character is well...prepare to dedicate your self to it o.o

and lately Etheral Dreams which i loved everything about exept for the talent lvl system
the talents them selfs had no lvl limit yet somewhere between 5-10 you no longer got any bonus from lvling them
to make it worse they only lvl up when the character does and even more so based on what weapon you have(a weapon can have 2 talents on them and when you lvl ups those talents get lvled up)

outside of that and the FF8 magic system
id be rather content :D
It's quite a bit simpler in Legionwood. When you level up, you gain a limited amount of AP, and then you use that to buy stat boosts. There's a limit to how many you can buy at a time, and you can sell them back and re-build characters whenever you want.

Techs are bought at a Tech store in towns. There's no restrictions on which Techs can be learned by which character, but some may use a Tech more effectively depending on how you built their stats.

Legionwood 2 has (in my opinion) a much better, tighter structured system.

the way you described it it sounds good ill check it out :D
i like the idea of stat allocation points even more when you can re distribute them :D

i must say tho their are some really great rpg maker games and i feel the community for this genre of games is too low
most gamers just care about the 3d graphics but most of those games rely on the amazing looks when the gameplay itself is dull or repetitive with a cliche story and little to no replay ability o.o
after battling with castatoth turned to castark this error occured!

Script 'Sideview 2' line ???: NoMethodError occurred.
That's a new one. Do you have the DLC installed, or are you just playing the base game? If you have the DLC installed, try re-downloading the base game and copying your save file over, then trying the fight again.

I don't know how the DLC would affect that battle as it doesn't alter that battle event at all, but it could be part of the cause.
