I liked Xenogears opening: a wall of text, a big much fight, some pleasant town gameplay, then BLOW UP TOWN.
The first time I got my psx and I didn't have any games on it (I usually play at my brother's/uncle's house) This is one of the most memorable openings for me because of the music and everything:

I prefer the Ending tho. (I know off topic ;-;)

I really liked that part in xenogears ;v;
Humm... I've never actually seen the FF6 PSX intro. Anyway, I'll echo FF8 as one of my favorite RPG intros.

I almost forgot about this opening, fuck the remastered Second Evolution one, absolute shit.
fallout was already posted so i truly struggled to find anything more.

(awesome, as it tells you EVERYTHING about the game)

oh, i just noticed. how is this NOT one of the greatest videogame openings ever? apparently no one thought of mentioning it;

"where are you? ok, good now play the game"
These aren't the greatest, but they definitely stick out in my mind.

To this day, those first 10 seconds still amaze me; what the hell's he looking at?!

Fast forward to 0:30 for the 8-bit fight scene. I want to see someone do something
like this in rpgmaker: No text, No over-the-top battle animations, just a pure,
genuine fight scene.

Usually RPGs begin with the cosmos and a wall of text that nobody cares enough to read.
So when I finally stumbled across "Wanderers from Ys" for the SNES, I immediately
thought how unusual it was for an RPG to open in such an earnest and down-to-earth sort of way.

"This journey is aimless."

OKAY SO.

After putting it into my PSP, this by far destroys anything ever period end of discussion hi hello you're wrong

Im a big persona fan, like the opening but I have to say FFX's honestly puts all others to shame, I just dont feel like posting the ridiculous long FMV.
liberi fatali is already here and i care about few other rpgs so here's some cool games so you know what you're missing

Probably not even my N.1 favourite, but I it is one of the first I ever saw/played, and I love it to this day. (as I love all of Blizzards cinematics, they are really good at making those... whenever I finish D2 act 5, I always watch the ending cinematic, so-godly-awesome).
