According to ABC News the Mayan Calender started in 3114 B.C and ran 5126 years. They said if you do simple math (5126-3114) it shows the calender ends in 2012. The problem with that is there is no 0 year. So according to that, the Mayan Calender would actually end in 2013.
Der einzige Grund wieso die (amerikanische) Welt untergehen würde, wäre wohl der das es zu wenig Konsumenten gibt. Por favor.

(I second that XKCD strip being awful by the way. And I usually like the comic.)
Maybe I'm missing something, but what's so awful about that xkcd strip? It's pretty accurate satire about most people not knowing history and otherwise not being interested in it unless HOLYSHITAPOCALYPSE.
